Antivirus

Hey all,

My Norton subscription is about to expire and I am debating whether or not to renew it.

Are there any other programs you can recommend, I'm not averse to paying, but if you can recommend any good and reputable free antivirus programs, that would also be great!

Personally I use eset. But you can give Microsoft Security Essentials a try. It's free, and it was rated fairly highly recently. http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/default.aspx
I don't recommend Panda, as it can make your machine hellishly slow. Well, not that you'd notice, being a Norton's user.

Kaspersky or MS Security Essentials or ESET...

they all pretty good, just depends how much time and effort its worth, when a virus kills your machine

Check AV Comparatives. You're fine with anything that has a rating of Advanced+.

I've been using Avast! since '04 without a day's troubles.

It's also picked up stuff that my paid for Trend license could sort out.

Just be wary of Kaspersky on older machines as it can hog resources.
