Anton Eberhard highlights "code red" at Eskom

I get these quips all the time. One company director was talking about buying a brand new sports car which is at least a million, most likely more, but told me solar is expensive. I drive a very old car, as I deemed solar to be more of a priority.
Bumper sticker idea.

“My car maybe trash but at least I have solar!”

So they have plans to add generation capacity till 2025... Well by that time there is not going to be any country left to make use of it.

Eskom's code red

The risk of load-shedding between September 2022 and September 2023 is remarkably high, according to Eskom's likely risk scenario for the year ahead.

The outlook — which covers the 52 weeks ending mid-September 2023 — shows that Eskom could likely be more than 2,001MW short to meet demand and reserves during 49 of the 52 weeks. This works out to 94% of the year.
I know who ordered the code red.

There is no light at the end of the tunnel the 1 year story is just to buy time and the idea of new capacity is just hot air unless provided by a non Eskom source. In the communist USSR and China everything was a 5 year plan because that was a good time to stall for in the hope that miraclousy the problem fixed itself or the voters forgot about the issue. In SA everyone has very short memories so there is no need to use 5 years one or two years works just as well.
