I really want to know if there are any ANC supporters on this forum. Please speak up and tell us why you think the ANC is good for SA. I find it really hard to see it all from both sides of the story.

Because they freed us. Inkata and all those other parties wernt part of the struggle, only ANC.
They are corrupt but at least they freed us.

They freed us? How? By forcing us all to construct huge walls around our houses and live in prisons?

I tend to ask every black person I meet, if they are Zuma or Mbeki, i always get a 50/50 response, and all Mbeki lovers say they will not vote. I always hope to find more Mbeki supporters ...

Well I think I fall in this category, I would have voted ANC March this year, but not March next year.

Not really a fan of the ANC per sé, I think any party that took out apartheid and it's restrictions did a good thing in my books.

They only took out apartheid to get at the trough.

When it comes to politicians, the only measure of their real intent is their actions. What have the ANC done since taking power? That is the only truth.

If the ANC were out to liberate and build this country, what would they have done?

If the ANC were out to rape the country's coffers, what would they have done?

Now compare the answers of the two questions to their actions/consequences and you have your reason for their involvement in the fall of apartheid.

Don't forget, politicians want you to live in the past so you don't observe the present.

The ANC did not free anybody. The MK was militarily insignificant and as long as the Cold War remained the West would have provided tacid support for the NP regime. The NP chose to hand over power willingly once the West clamped down on the them following the collapse of the Soviet Union and the disappearance of Soviet supported threats to
Western interests in South Africa. If anything, Gorbachev freed the non-whites in
South Africa, as well as the actions of the other players in the anti-Soviet struggle,
Mikhail Gorbachev, Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, John Paul II, Boris Yeltsin, various European freedom movements eg
Solidarity and so on all contributed to an ultimate dismantling of apartheid in SA. However the fall of the Soviet Union, delivered by Mikhail Sergeyevich was
the key to tougher sanctions and messaging to PW Botha and FW De Klerk to get rid of apartheid.

I have voted for the ANC in the past. But I won't vote ANC now. Their record shows that they do not have the interests of the majority (read poor) of South Africans at heart.

One example: the lottery. It is a well known fact the world over that the poor spend a disproportionate share of their income on the lottery. Despite this knowledge, the ANC government started the lottery as their elite could make fortunes off the poor.

If memory serves me, the lotto was started in KZN. It was called the Natal Lotto back than and had an excellent record of handing out the proceeds to the needy. Government saw the profit in it and than snatched it up and made it a nationwide lotto, incidently very little of the proceeds now make it to the needy.
