Any cheap yet decent local PHP web hosting?

You've got be kidding me if you think R29 shared hosting = unlimited disk space.

The plan they're talking about comes with:

https://www.smartweb.co.za/web-hosting.php

Code:
1GB SSD Disk Storage
5GB Bandwidth
5 Email Accounts
1 MySQL Databases
1x CloudLinux Resources
checkmark Daily Backups
checkmark cPanel Control Panel
checkmark Free Domain Name*
checkmark Free SSL Certificate
I didn't say R29. Here is what I'm talking about, and yes it is unlimited for R35.

Unfortunately really no such thing as 'unlimited' in reality. Even unlimited has limits (usually specified in the Terms backed by a FUP). Shared hosting packages are hosted on normal dedicated servers with hard limits. Wouldn't really make much economical sense to allow R35pm clients to use 100s of GB on a server...

Our unlimited plans do not have set limits on bandwidth and disk storage. Instead, we have a fair use policy which goes as follows.

Bandwidth and disk storage are unlimited as long as:

⚬ they used as an integral part of your website,
⚬ you are not intentionally abusing the service by using excessive bandwidth or disk storage,
⚬ you are not violating our terms and conditions, and
⚬ you are not impeding our capability to provide other service to other customers.
So yes, it IS really unlimited provided you use it in a legitimate way.

Good luck with that.

I work for an ISP and you'd get hit with a FUP faster than you could blink.

Elitehost would be idiots if they let you store hundreds of gb's on that plan.

Spinning storage is cheap, but its not that cheap.

You're either being a troll or you're delusional if you think a R35 plan is unlimited.

No it is not. Same way Afrihost is not uncapped.

^This.

Why on earth would they charge 900p/m for 80Gb of space -https://www.elitehost.co.za/vps

If you can have unlimited for R35, Swa sometimes I wonder. - https://www.elitehost.co.za/about/terms-and-conditions

But please send a screenshot of your control panel I would love to see a shared hosting account of 2TB, I will move from domains tonight.

Well it's there, believe it or not.

So what are you going to store on that R35 a month package if you're not allowed to store any of this?

Code:
If, however, you are attempting to take advantage of the service by distributing or storing large files, PDF's or images, streaming excessive video or hosting music or something similar, then we will request that you cease doing so.

So you can't store large files? No images? So what can I use it for? Your average site is certainly not going to use a few gigs.

And this? Do they run a script to remove emails older than 12 months in your inbox? Really?

Code:
Email storage under Unlimited packages is subject to the following:

we do not allow long term storage of emails, we reserve the right to remove emails older than 12 months,

You should also read all of it. Order that package and load a few 100GB, what will happen is you'll get an email with the below.

Exactly, don't use it as a file storage or distribution site and you can have large files as long as they legitimately form part of your site. If not they can ask you to remove it even if it's 1B. You're not reading it properly. Most types of the sites that will require such storage are prohibited in any case and scripts that would be used for torrents or downloading are not allowed. So under those restrictions how many sites do you think can store 2TB?

Hardly a very big hoop.

1 x coupon code on checkout and done.

If that's a hoop then I'd hate to see what you call a roadblock :D
Capitec and dollars is a hassle so anything other than a debit order is a hoop for me

I can. My photos can easily take up 100MB each. That means your 60GB will limit me to 1000 max.

You make even less sense here than you do in the stock watch thread.

For once I find myself agreeing with you.

He's either delusional or a troll.

No host on earth would give him UNLIMITED storage for R35 a month. Hell even if they say UNLIMITED, they'll still push an INODE limit in CPANEL.

Not even Amazon offers storage this cheaply, so why the hell would EliteHost be able to....

Does noone else feel unbearable pain at reading the thread title?
I gringed a little.

Common ground at last

Use a VPS for this - way more flexibility than shared hosting.

Host1Plus (HAS ZA PRESENCE @ INTERNET SOLUTIONS IN JHB):
=========================================================
REGISTRATION URL: https://affiliates.host1plus.com/ref/jeromeza.html
PROMO CODE: VPSZA75 (75% off - should work on anything >256MB RAM plans on 3 / 6 / 12 month billing cycles)

This is a good offer. Do they allow you to reload/reset easily?

How do you figure that? I just enter my card details and voila. Works exactly the same on local sites and foreign currency ones.

Only when you don't understand the concepts.

Only when you don't understand the concepts.

Concept versus real-world execution.
