Any comments on the following hosts?

We use HostAfrica quite extensively.
Excellent Support
Edit: I confused this for "Host4Africa" who are absolutely ****ing terrible at everything.

They are so bad I'd recommend HostAfrica change their name just to avoid the taint.

The server itself. I assume VPS specs will more or less align with what we're used to.

With regards to the VPS packages, yeah we've done our research and will match similar options available on the market and try be competitive.

As for the host - here are the specs

2 x Rome 7552 48C/96T 2.2G 192M - totaling 96 CORES / 192 THREADS
16 x 64GB DDR4-3200 2Rx4 LP (16Gb) ECC RDIMM totaling 1TB RAM
6 x Samsung PM983 3.84TB NVMe PCIe3x4 V4 TLC 2.5" 7mm (1.3 DWPD) - totaling 23tb (we'll expand on this as required)

Very nice! I've seen conflicting info about whether the base clock multiplier is unlocked. Would be nice to get it to 3.3+GHz at all times.

Vultr's 3.8GHz cores on their High Frequency plans are a beast and make an immediately noticeable difference to basically everything.

The higher frequency CPU's will perform substantially better - but the prices are rather steep.

Give us some time and we'll get there ;)

Ah, no worries. Linode and DigitalOcean perform pretty well too and they have fairly standard core clocks for most of their instances.
I am keen to see your feedback based on our offering versus that which you have tested with Linode and DigitalOcean

Afri'host' :p
They've been in the hosting realm for years bruh.
web host's differentiate from ISP's in that web host's focus only on hosting and as such provide a bespoke level of service.

ISP's who offer everything tend to offer diluted service in comparison.

Something to bear in mind when costing for a high-frequency expansion is that the demand for those instances is nuts. Most of the Vultr HF options are permanently unavailable at every major location. A few opened up at Dallas this weekend so I moved fast. I think a bunch were just added at several locations - Vultr has been open about adding more HF servers as fast as they can.

They're such a joy to use. The WP backend is so much snappier.

I disagree with your p.o.v.
Afrihost has been a big player in both the hosting and isp services industry for years. They are miles away from being a small one man show.

Please check the Afrihost control panel out. It's straightforward and simple for any client to use.

Then look at domains.co.za which you mentioned earlier. It has rendering issues on mobile and PC.

I'm not dissing domains. I'm making a point that resources matter and Afrihost has it.

I'm not an Afrihost customer, but I'm not blind either.

For a company that have resources, they don't put it to very good use at all..

As an ISP too we can control our routing and make changes as we please. We have a very big hosting department called Server Admin. Big group of people making sure everything server related is sorted. Then we have a small army of hosting support staff that does tickets and calls. We also have a Whatsapp army that deals with queries via Whatsapp. Hosting is one off if not the biggest part of Afrihost.

No sure I understand maybe you have some examples?
Was a customer myself and support was always atrocious, for the simplest of hosting queries.. just have a read through this sub-forum, a lot more people who have had issues..

I will admit, I haven't seen any in a few months, not that I was specifically looking, so perhaps it has gotten better.. but, they have had the resources for a long time already..

Okay makes sense. Sorry that support was poor. We don't always get it right but I hope we get better over time.

With regards to complaints people usually go online to complain. They don't always go to praise good service. When a hosting package/server just works people never complain they do their thing and life goes on. IF the server is down for 20min they will likely go to social media first. This is actually just a human thing and happens to all companies. The bigger the more often those posts occur.

A good example is Telkom. The sheer number of clients they have it's a no brainer they will have the most complaints.
