Any dot matrix gurus?

I have a Panasonic KX-P1150 printer I have set up to print three-part 8.5'' x 8.5'' invoice forms. It prints fine when printing more than one invoice before tearing off, but if the user wants to only print a single invoice, the "Tear Off" button behaves incorrectly. Pressing it results in the paper ejecting, almost to the next perforation, not retracting to the last perforation.

The printer manual doesn't seem to mention anything about setting this. All it basically says is that everything is set via the setup program, and going through the setup program quite carefully revealed no setting for "Tear Off".

I'm hoping somebody here has experienced a similar problem, and may shed some light on the situation for me. Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Yes, and the client in this case reckons he's done his sums, and the three-part forms are significantly cheaper than printing three A4 pages on an ink-jet per document.

It's just a pity he bought Pastel Xpress for printing his invoices instead of paying me to write something for him, but I suppose he also did his sums there. :)

That does not sound right. If you hit the tear-off button after printing 2 pages you telling me it works properly?

Check your page size (on the printer) and top-of-form again.
Sounds to me like your software knows whats going on, but the printer doesn't, or visa versa.

No, Tear Off does the same after printing two or three pages, it's just that printing more than one makes re-aligning the paper worth-while, where having to manually do this after printing each single invoice is a PITA. The page size is fine, and TOF seems OK, as when printing many invoices, each one is aligned perfectly.

You have not set it correctly. remove all the paper, then load it again. Does it load to the right place or are you doing a manual "lining up" after the paper is in? Read those instructions again about TOF.

I don't know that printer at all, but it should have an auto-eject option as well so it lifts the paper up after the print job incase you want to tear off, and then sucks it back down for the next job. Does that work?

It loads to exactly the correct position when I just hook the paper on the feed and press "Load", no lining up needed. It looks like TOF is literally the top of the form.

I didn't see any auto-eject feature, but will look for one later, thanks.
