Hi there, I have been with Openweb for 2 years on the " Gold Uncapped Unshaped 4mbps " WHEN the line is ok it runs at 450-500KB/s BUT it's about 20% of the month that it's OK........ I am struggling 200 times a month to argue out with them that it's NOT telkom because ALL my trial accounts on other ISPs run perfect at the same time my Openweb running badly... now I play online games ALOT and I use about 300-500GB a month. I want something that will NOT let me lag or drop below 70%(of max speed) as an average speed and have Really low latency (like 5-20), Budget is R500-R900 P/m I am aiming at the Webafrica 300GB normal home capped but I'm scared of high latency or LAG and low speeds. Thanks for those that will help me :)

Afternoon, why not have a look at what we have to offer.

The following is a link to our 4Mbps FREE 7 Day trial:

Hi,

Are those downloads during afterhours time? (midnight to ~6am). Most capped accounts have a very large allocation of data or uncapped during that time.
I would suggest going with a large Afrihost capped account and using their R99 double data, or going with CrystalWeb.

I would not recommend Mweb. Also, feel free to add your story to the truth about Openweb.

To be fair - *any* ISP is going to be better than openweb. (The same way any 3 year old will draw a better picture than my Dachshund)

Crystalweb has great service and brilliant support.

Afrihost has thrown 1000's of customers under the bus over the last few years with deceptions and promises to resolve their network issues.
They seem to have issues under control atm but for a lot of people the trust has been lost and would not recommend them.

Have not used MWeb so cant comment.

do you think Crystalweb's 4Mbps Premium Home Uncapped is any better than Openweb's Premium? I can download 400GB without any throttling or shaping WHEN the net is OK, so?

Will I have problems with downloading say less than 70% speed, and when I do gaming on the Home Uncapped premium, and after 5pm shaping is how bad?

you're approaching this thinking CW is a normal ISP, it's not, jump into the CW thread and ask your questions there

Afrihost or Crystal Web. Im with Afrihost and the support is great. I would hands down also suggest Crystal Web, DJ and his company i would say is the number 1 ISP around, despite the fact that im with Afrihost.

Afrihost pricing is great tbf, and the only reason due to financial constraints for me at the moment, where i havent left for Crystal Web yet. I signed up to a trial account with Crystal, and the support i got at 5 minutes before midnight was world class, as i am not a fully fledged customer, the guy i spoke to was tremendous.

I would look at these 2, and i would have said Vox, but reading that thread and its clear that they have gone a bit backwards

Crystal Web. No throttling, only shaping when the network is busy. Can't remember the last time I was shaped though.

And their support is the best in the business.

Don't go for Business though, it deprioritises all protocols used mostly at home. Premium Home Uncapped is what you need.

I can vouch for Crystal Web as well. Really decent ISP, and their support is top-notch. If you are with OpenWeb, you're a sucker for punishment, cancel and move elsewhere. For a second choice on ISP, if Crystal Web is out of budget, is Afrihost, also a really good option.

I`ve recently moved from TI to MWEB and it`s been really really good. Streaming Netflix on my MWEB 4Mbps account is working like a charm. Can`t comment on any of the other services mentioned here.

Oh no, you just didn't... You'll displease Multichoice.

JK. I'm surprised you're getting full speed to Netflix. Netflix is much better, keep using it :)
