Hi, I was “forced” to move to RSAweb due to ISPAfrika deciding that they will no longer support residential customers. It was the easiest option being on Openserve and I didn’t want to take the chance of being without internet as I am working from home due to Covid.

My line was transferred early July. Had some teething issues with the wrong dns server etc, struggled to make contact, emails take about 3-4 days to be answered and the webchat option also ask you to leave a message. I continued to experience low speeds/line dropping and after contacting them I was moved to another port, restarted everything and latency and speed improved.

I am on a 10/5mbps line and know I can’t expect no buffering etc, but Netflix and Youtube buffer much more than on ISPafrika. I know this is an objective opinion and not sure if I can proof this.

The bigger issue is that the line dropped at least 3 times in the last 4 days. Mostly between 13:00 and 14:00. The internet light on the router will go red. This happened the first time on Monday where after I was moved to another port.

The kids also struggle to connect to their gaming servers and get disconnected much more than before.

The lack of support is really frustrating and I am considering moving.

I would appreciate advice or if there is a RSAweb representative to assist?

Thanks

My advice to you is to cancel and move as soon as you can. I moved to them at the beginning of June, and I have never in my life experienced such slow and terrible customer service - it is impossible getting an answer to tickets, they seem reluctant to assist you, etc. I have also noticed significant degradation when compared to my prior ISP - line drops more frequently, VPN issues to work server (networking routing problem), etc.

Best of luck!

Just a quick update. I have changed cables from the ONT to my router and had a call from Openserve who has allocated another port on the ONT with no success. The line drops continue and it all went quiet on RSAWeb side. I will probably move somewhere else. I see that Dames got a response at least :)

Been pretty stoked with the service from RSAWeb + Octotel as the fibre provider. Been with them for 2-3years... Not sure. Had multiple line changes etc. Currently on 20/20. And very happy with the quality + service.

I'm looking to move to them from webafrica, please share your experience and whether or not you received the support that you needed

Hi I am in contact with Sarah and moved to a test account today to see if anything changes. They cannot see the line drops on their side, but at least they are now trying to resolve. Will see how it goes the next couple of days.

Hi, just a quick update. I have cancelled with Rsaweb. They were not able to resolve the line drops. Got a test account from @PBCool and been running without any issues....

Hi GeeJ
We are very sorry to hear about your experience especially, that RSAWeb were unable to resolve your issues. Please can I ask you to email us your full name so that we can investigate further on our side. We would like to ensure that no other migrated clients are experiencing the same problem. If you are able, we would greatly appreciate it. The email address to use is [email protected]. Thanks so much.

I moved to RSAWeb a month ago to the 200mb line from a Cell C Fibre 100Mb line. I cannot tell you how poor the line speed is with RSAWeb. The line keeps dropping and it is enormously frustrating. Will also be moving back to Cell C or another ISP as soon as humanly possible. DO NOT BE CONNED BY lower RSAWeb pricing.

This is scary as i have cancelled my Rocketnet account in favour of RSAweb.

Maybe i should get a test account before the account is activated.

I suggest you do. I have been testing Cool Ideas today on a 200Mb line. It is literally night and day compared to the similar product of RSA Web.

I am on the same boat. Every since Apr my line drops.. Have sent numerous emails all with new queries from Rsaweb speed test and so on.
