Anybody here using NFC

I'm looking at getting a new phone within the next few months and I see most of the top end phones have NFC.

Any of you guys using it? If yes, for what?

iPhone guys say it's a waste (until Apple implement it, because it only becomes important when they decide) and the Android guys are going to tell you they use it every day.

Personally?

I hardly use it - Iv'e sent the odd file and received the odd link. But I know people that often use NFC with the tags in car, office etc which you need to be honest, it a a pretty decent use.

Haven't used it yet! Waiting for ABSA to roll out the NFC enabled payment terminals. Can't see any other uses that would interest me at this stage.

We have those little NFC tags at our church, when you walk through the doors you just hold your phone over the tag and does a whole bunch of thingies, it turns it onto silent, it opens a link to the church bulletin and gives you a link to the Bible passage for the day. Visitor's also get a .vcf file with all the church details on it.

Used it a few times to transfer photos, was pretty cool. But still mostly use bluetooth

I have an NFC tag that does all that automatically for me!

It's on the dashboard of my car!

I have one in the car and one next to my bed. When I put my phone in it's cradle in the car it turns on bluetooth, turns on the GPS and opens Waze. The one next to my bed puts the phone in silent mode, turns off the display and turns off the notification light.

There is a lot more you can do with it, just haven't played around too much.
