My work is considering buying some of these for a number of offices.

What is your experience with the devices in terms of warranty and ease of repair.

Been using one for ages as my media server. Only uses 60W. Hasn't given me a days issue. However be warned they aren't the fastest
 
In Nov last year I replaced my desktop with a NUC 6i7KYK, the so-called Skull Canyon or gaming model. 16GB memory, i7, fast M.2 512GB storage. The main reason is it supports 2 x 4K monitors. Works like a charm, and love its small size.

Can't comment about repairs, etc as it's never failed. Runs 24/7.

Are you saying that noraml tower PCs are faster even if they are similarly specced?

If we use them with i3 processors, 8GB RAM and SSDs, how do you think it will fare?
 
I'd be surprised if it works out better than standard form factor. Both from a performance PoV (Due to cooling) and also cost and repairability

No.

For the same money you can buy better specced pcs.

Hence the comment about it not being the fastest.

I've had mine running 247 since I bought it. Only been off during power failures and windows update restarts

i am really keen to get the new version...hope it'll be released soon!
 
Replaced my desktop pc with a NUC6CAYH Kit a few months back. Works well except for the few times when it switched itself off for no reason. Quiet and low power consumption.
 
I have experience with (long name) HP ProGesk 600 G2 Desktop Mini.
About the same size, but generally better hardware than Intel NUC.
Essentially a laptop technology with built-in WiFi and Bluetooth, 2.5" HDD and SSD M2 slot, but CPU's are medium power socketed T-series (i3,5,7).
This one I used was G2 (Skylake CPU, Q150 chipset), but it was 2016 model.

These small things cost more, but don't take space on the desk (can be VESA mounted behind the monitor or the wall) and have a firmware for centralized management, ideal for office use. There are not noticeably slower than desktops.
