Hi,
I received a phonecall at the beginning of this month re excessive usage and a 10G cap. I signed up because of the "no capping" policy, and the rep that sold me the contract defined excessive use as 30G and upwards monthly. I have decided to continue my surfing and P2P as per usual and wait to see what Sentech does - if they do cut me off, I will cancel my debit order and move on though. So, has anyone reading this message actually been 'cut off ' yet.

Thanks

Carl

I'm also very interested in hearing a reply to this.

I've calmed down a lot..and now it feels like a waste paying R750 for something I'm almost too scared to use.

i was told that after you've gotten three warnings, you'll get cut off till the beginning of next month, and that for being (*gasp*) 60 meg over their cap. They also told me that you can now monitor your usage on their site (still need to see that though). I don't have a problem with having to adhere to a cap, but i do have a problem with them promoting it as un uncapped service.

I believe that internet access and bandwidth should be a commodity, and that you shouldn't have to worry about usage.

You can indeed monitor your cap now, from the MyWireless registration site. reg.something or other.

Sentech Cap International and Local ?

Does anyone know whether or not the Sentech 10G cap is just for international or includes local traffic too ?

Thanks
Carl

Dialer Software Message

Re-direct message.

There appears to be a problem with your current MyWireless dialler software installation, hence you are unable to access your usage page.

Please retry to access the page, by retyping the following url: https://reg.mywireless.sentech.co.za in your browser.

In the event that you still unable to reach your usage page, please re-install your MyWireless dialler software CD with your specified modem.

What?!? I have to install that crappy dialing software so I can check my usage? Blow me sentech

The "Sentech Wireless Modem Member Login Page" (https://reg.mywireless.sentech.co.za/register.index.jsp) and the "Sentech Wireless Modem Welcome Page" (https://reg.mywireless.sentech.co.za/register/welcome.jsp) don't work anymore. This facility should be independant of the dialer software - I don't even use the dialer software, I use MySignal, and what if you are using the Ethernet PPPoE interface on a router? Both these websites used to work before (with MySignal active), and you could manually type in your username and password - yet another thing Sentech has broken!

This is very misleading error message. In fact, if you go to the Sentech home page (http://www.sentech.co.za/) there is now a "Check your MyWireless usage" button, which just points to (https://reg.mywireless.sentech.co.za). This gives you the same error message after a very long timeout.

Keep you posted... I was actually rather surprised to get a resonse from the support!!! But it was a nice surprise...

For those users who are nowire customers, you can go to
https://reg.mywireless.sentech.co.za/nowire/htmlui_en to see your usage. If you are a Sentech (or other) customer I am not sure if it will work. I would be interested to know so please respond if you manage to get on and check your usage. I have just tried this morning and managed to get on but now it seems unavailable!

It works for me, and I am not a nowire customer!

i can log in, but there's nothing to see.
only if i view the source of the page i see some data, and that data is incorrect.
according to sentech i've used 2.7 Gig so far, while according to NetMeter, i've generated 6.5gig this month.

amazing how sentech can't get their sh*t together...

I'm not a nowire customer but I also tried and it does give me an amount, but it's completely wrong.
