I guess you overlooked the big hole blown into one of the pyramids by European treasure hunters. No surprise there.

Actually that never happened, its a common mistake.

Look, a lot of people robbed and wasted Egypt: The Greeks, the Romans, the British, the Germans.. the French etc. Whats happening now is that a corrupt Arab government is running that country in to a hole (like SA) nothing new has happened there in the last 30 years, the infrastructure (better than SA) is aging and money donated to look after the treasures is squandered. Under the Cairo museum lie vast artifacts gathering dust, that makes me really sad, too arrogant to share with the rest of the world they keep it away from people who could actually study and understand these things.

Then when you visit the pyramids there is some dude trying to sell you a toy camel and tell you that HIS ancestors built the pyramids.

Friend of mine just got back. Initially went for 1 week, but due the volcano in Iceland stayed an extra week. They had a great time, although would have prefered not to have stayed the extra week. A holiday isnt a holiday anymore when you have to stay
