Huawei U9200 (P1) 4.0.3 Stock MIUI( Cellc Network Error - Roam on Vodacom Works)
LG Optimus 3D 4.0.4 - Stock (Cell C / MWeb DSl Network Error)

Cannot connect on Cell C, Mweb Sometimes mtn / Telkom DSL.

Vodacom Worked without issue

If redirected to BB Page tap back relauch BBM works no issue on either devices.

Prior to launching BBM for Android, an unreleased version of the BBM for Android app was posted online. The interest and enthusiasm we have seen already – more than 1.1 million active users in the first 8 hours without even launching the official Android app – is incredible. Consequently, this unreleased version caused issues, which we have attempted to address throughout the day.

Our teams continue to work around the clock to bring BBM to Android and iPhone, but only when it’s ready and we know it will live up to your expectations of BBM. We are pausing the global roll-out of BBM for Android and iPhone. Customers who have already downloaded BBM for iPhone will be able to continue to use BBM. The unreleased Android app will be disabled, and customers who downloaded it should visit www.BBM.com to register for updates on official BBM for Android availability.

As soon as we are able, we will begin a staggered country roll-out of BBM for Android and continue the roll-out of BBM for iPhone. Please follow @BBM on Twitter for the latest updates and go to www.BBM.com to sign-up for updates about BBM for Android and iPhone. These issues have not impacted BBM service for BlackBerry.

Sorry, but I don't understand this. The problem lies with people who 1) uploaded numerous fakes to the Play store and 2) the person who released a leak that broke the system and now spoiled the experience for everyone.

Agreed, Whatsapp has been tried and tested and is being updated on a regular basis. It works perfectly and currently can handle hundreds of millions of users from across the world, whereas BBM crashed when only 1.1 million users downloaded and installed the leaked app.

Precisely, the company is about to go under the hammer in a matter of days, why would they want to get BBM apps completed, servers upgraded and get it rolled out? Besides, I think the company does not have the money or financial backup to pursue this attempt any further.

I think what RIM should do is give away BBM, at no cost, to Whatsapp and let them see if they want or can integrate the sh** system into theirs.

Nein,leaks were downloaded elsewhere.

If you meant signups,then i'll also disagree. Did they hope 10 people would sign up a day once they release the staggered method on the play stores?

With all the broohaha and fanfare and social media attention did they not expect millions of people to sign up? I think the leaked version was a better method for a staged load test personally

I don't say that it is bad, but I just don't have any use for it. Nobody that I know has a Blackberry any more.

Yes, they confirmed that the technical problems were caused by the leaked app on their servers. They also mentioned that 1.1 million people downloaded and installed the app.

Now, here is the problems:

1. The app was not downloaded from their servers. So, they did not have to deal with the resources and bandwidth in terms of downloads. Everyone did not sign up simultaneously, they signed up over a period of a week or more.
2. They have way more than 1.1 million BBM users on their servers. However, 1.1 million more caused their servers to present technical problems.
3. They probably should have known that there are more than 1.1 million Android users, unless they had a South African stats company telling them Android has lied and only have a few thousand users around the world.
4. Had they known there were millions of Android users, their servers should have been ready to handle the load. 100 million more users should not have caused the problem.
5. If they knew they were not ready, they should never have made any public announcements.

BBM has not been sh** before, in fact, I was a BB user and thought it was a great service, however, it is clear now that it has become sh** that can't even handle a few million users signing up.

Uhm, wrong. The fakes had no influence on the BBM servers at all.

Uhm, he/she isn't a hacker, so theoretically they didn't break the servers at all. This was all down to Blackberries incompetence. They should have gotten their infrastructure ready for this roll out. They failed to plan properly. End of story.
