Anyone driving an Omdoa?

Meant to type OMODA, but a slip of the finger

I presume its Chinese? The agent, William Simpson in Tokai said he thought it was made in France. Too much bling for me, I'm a conservative gent

Not even they want to admit it came from China...
just another GWM like abomination.

Go look at the 13k people on a FB group for SA with mostly issues and no parts to replace warranty claims or accidents.

As everyone said, it's the luxury brand of chery.

There's a showroom at Table Bay Mall. I will say, the inside is beautifully done. The only thing that doesn't do it for me is the roof feels very low for an SUV.

It's got an "evoque-ish" feel to it

Yeah it’s basically the Lexus of Chery.

You’ll notice the steering wheel still has the Chery logo on.

Pretty funky cars, but like you said definitely aimed at the younger generation.

If the agent doesn’t even know their own cars…stay well clear.

Strange, I don’t see it at all.

Ironically though the Haval range is designed by the very same guy who designed all the latest Range Rovers.

Especially the interiors are very Range Rover.

The agent is a moron (that said, I've had to tell a VW salesman about features on their own cars before). As mentioned, it is Chery's upmarket division. If you compare the Chery and Omoda front ends, the grilles have a very similar patterned design.

The new one has flush door handles like the Land/Range Rovers.

It likely has zero resemblence but it's just the feeling I got when I sat in it. Never been in an evoque but I would imagine it feels similar... idk.

Yup, was told the same thing. The turnstyle gear knob is one of the most recognisable features of it.

The sales guy at William-Simpson was really clueless. I asked him if it was a hybrid power system. I could see he didn't know. It took him about a minute to find the bonnet release lever (properly labelled) and then I could see it was a conventional ICE

I thought the battery was very small. It is smaller than the one in my neighbour's Kia Picanto. Looking at the book (English very good) you can enable or disable the stop-start function.

I didn't sit in the back, but noticed the rear seats are lower than the front, so unless you were 1980mm tall, this would be ok

Oh yeah haven’t been inside or even recall it from pictures so you might be right.

they took a western SUV and copied the sh#t out of it, sold it for cheaper, made it a bit better and called it a day.

its sold to countries that are on America's bad side predominantly.
Which one? This is the most unique looking car I’ve seen come out of China.

Also, also if it’s now better what’s the problem?

Most people will still buy it. It's mainly a matter of price (monthly cost from the pocket) and looks. That why we had so many first gen stupid Kwids running around even though they had no safety features.

A lot of people don't worry about how long it will last. Affordable, can say "i have a car" and maybe some bragging "good looking car with features your expensive car doesn't have". That's all that matters to the majority.

He must have recently changed Job sectors. Surely there must have been a little training about the car as well?
