Earlier in the year eBay orders started to come through really quickly, 3-4 weeks from China, amazing.
Then in the last 2 months or so orders have been going missing like crazy, some have tracking numbers and show them arriving in SA on schedule and then nothing arrives.

Anyone else noticed this pattern?

I feel bad opening so many item not received disputes for missing parcels that were clearly sent off, not the sellers fault the SA Post Office is such a train wreck :(

Punishing the sellers for your mistake of using SAPO is hardly fair....
You get full marks for useless comment of the day.

I've not lost many eBay parcels previously, they just took forever to arrive.

I guess the thieving post office has something to do with this..

I'm currently waiting on 2 that I've ordered about a month ago. The stuff I ordered about 2-3 months ago came quick as you said like 2-3 weeks for me.

Also the last one I got the collection slip was a "final notice" and had been at the post office for quite some time. So maybe the slips are not being "sent" out.

Are you having your parcels delivered to a PO Box or address?

Mine to an address, local Po is sharp so I don't think my issue is there/not receiving slips.

Also still waiting for a cheap parcel ordered beginning July.
It shows as being in SA since 20 July, but have no means to trace further.

Useless? You know there is an issue with SAPO in terms of their delivery times, and their rampant theft. You even admit they have "lost" some of your parcels. You chose to use them, and you shift the responsibility on the seller and come here and complain? That is ****ty behaviour. The suggestion is next time to use a better shipping company. It would be easier from a customs perspective too.

If you traced it to SA using a international tracking number phone customs and give them that number and they will give you a local one.

Tried [email protected], came back saying

"Good day

We are unable to track this item. our tracking numbers starts with “E, C or R” and should end with 2 letters that represent the country of origin"
Mine is MP.....SG

I would still try and give them a call maybe the online centre/office do not have the same access to the system.

This has nothing to do with eBay orders, it happens with any mail package coming into the South African Post Office that is not a registered mail item.

I think the golden rule here is: Never, ever make use of the South African Post Office.

Earlier this year, I bought some old banknotes for my kids. Luckily it was less than $10. It came via the post office in 4 envelopes. I received the first envelope in my post box. When I took it out, it was torn open and the banknote was stolen. (At least they had the decency to send the opened envelope to my house). The other 3 envelopes never arrived.

So, the Post Office is a place for pilfering letters and packages. It is empowering and enriching those working there.

Agreed.

See my sig for an alternative to SAPO.

Don't be a self righteous dck.
I've had very few lost parcels in the past using the Po, they just took forever but eventually arrived.

That's why I started this thread, parcels are now going missing, nothing I could do to forsee that, neither is it my fault. Without free basic shipping most items on eBay become untenable to order, using uprated tracked shipping hasn't helped prevent a parcel from getting lost so I'm not sure what I am supposed to do.

Here to shill, why not just be upfront from the beginning about selling your services.

Nearly 5000 posts on myBB and this is the second post I've mentioned my sig. So yeah, "shill"...

You're deluded for still using SAPO, demanding refunds/resends from sellers for something you know will likely happen is a dick move. And there are many threads about SAPO being useless...

From what I've seen you've started offering this "service" to people recently and now the shill posts have come up, no coincidence.

Sapo have always been useless but the majority of parcels still came through, whats happening now is unprecedented, especially after they started delivering so quickly earlier this year.

Anyway I'm in the Western Cape and I went to the post office a short while ago to collect a local parcel and asked about intl parcels and the guy said for some reason Cape mail intl distribution hub is very under staffed at the moment(maybe a whole bunch were fired simultaneously?) and parcels are sitting there for weeks longer than normal, so there is still hope that the parcels are just held up and not missing.

eBay orders in the past that have arrived after a refund was given I've retroactively paid the sellers for. Doesn't happen often as eBay is normally on the ball in regard to estimated shipping times, which is why this current situation doesn't make sense.

I'm also in the Western Cape, you're right, stuff coming in via SAPO was nice and quick a few weeks ago, but things have definitely slowed down. I've got some electronics that left China 25 July, still no sign of them in SA.

I've been using this site for tracking, as soon as it gets checked in to JIMSC in Joburg it will appear on the search, even with the international tracking number:

Wow. Aren't you just a big keyboard warrior? You previously stated that parcels were lost and you carried on using the same delivery method. That's not very smart. Do you not read the news? You have a seemingly high post count and SAPO complaints are all over the forum. Heck, Amazon blacklisted SAPO in 2008. You are 8 years late to the party. Attacking others for pointing it out is not going to change the situation.

But hey, better late than never, right? :crylaugh:
