OK so feedback time...

Yeah external unit needs power as well with POE, i know LAN cable is not ideal, but it is ok for now. Will get a longer one at some point and route it properly.

So back to the issue, the way it works, or didn't work in this case is the way the Huawei routers are setup or made. Guy says it is a weird security thing. But anyway, so you connect everything like normal, then connect the inside unit to a laptop. Then power off both devices and power them on at the same time, this marries their IP and you have to log in on the laptop to that IP and immediately set a password for the indoor unit. Once this is done the rest is basically automatic and within a minute the light was blue and working. So without setting a password the unit basically goes into a lock-down mode after a couple of minutes.

This is also nowhere on any documentation, so that didn't help and it is a weird setup if you don't know exactly what to do.

But yeah working now everything sorted...

And the SIM is actually in there? Or is it purely an antenna for the internal unit?

Yeah the sim goes into the outdoor unit. Makes me worry a bit about lightning and the reliability with these things in a severe storm... time will tell. Not worried about disruption in a storm, worried about it dying a fiery death ;)

If Imay ask, did you pay extra for the outdoor unit and how much? Currently getting on average about 150 down but only about 4 or max 5 up. More importantly is that the router is at a completely unsuitable spot at this stage. Would prefer it t my old routers spot with an outside unit.

Random question. Did the option to order 5G pop up in your profile on the site once you were told you could get 5G?
I have already spoken to the sales consultant and he said I could place the order, but there is nothing on my profile regarding 5G

Jip had the same issue. My message only popped up the next day where I could place my order.

Nope did not pay extra, so same as what an indoor unit would be which is R1000 for now, seems like it will go up soon though.
