I get dc about 10 tyms during the afternoon.....wot is happening?

nope, infact mine seems to be 24hrs apart :) check if its the router or session timeout by going onto http://userstats.adsl.saix.net/ and seeing if session time is periodic/same. If so check how close you are to cap. They use to disconnect hourly when you get close to the cap but if you a willing to take resp. if you go over the cap etc they usually set it back to normal etc.

If its random it may mean that you have problems on your line which is causing you to loose adsl sych with the exchange. Telkom has to sort that. What can do is ensure that you line is firmly + securely fitted and if you have a spare router you could check if the router was not giving issues.

does your router have a synch light? perhaps check if it is droping synch, what kind of router is it?

i tried my friends WebAfirca account and neva get disconnected. Only with cybernet does it happen every 30mins *confused*

hrm how close are you to the cap? perhaps contact them and ask them why the timeout is set so low.

i have used 676 of 3gb.....and trying to speak with cybersmart isnt a very smart thing....their people skills suck

well if you sure that your sessions are exactly 30 min long theres no other way.. email them :P

well there not exactly.... i will play an online game like world of warcaft and during a 2hour session i will get dc about 3 tyms.

and its not just off WoW....i will get dc off everything... like MSN, Ventrilo etc.

gr8 now i get crap latencies with these guys too.... 800ms+

i am having problems with my speeds as well from cybersmart that has been going on for a few days now. a lot of web pages just do not want to load and yeah i to am getting dc's as well and that makes for a very unhappy guild wars player.
stupid question could it not be cybersmart but something actually wrong with my adsl line from you know who? i've contacted cybersmart (ha, ha, help from them, yeah right) but should i "try" and contact hellkom as well?

I haven't even been with cybersmart for a month and am already sick and tired of the disconnects, also been waiting 3 days for a reply to my email. Sorry cybersmart, you will soon be getting an email regarding my termination of service, doubt they will respond to that email either.

here is the bulsh*t response i recieved with the same problem of disconects

"Here are the last 30 entries in your Logs

As you can see our Session timeouts are every 12 hours - This will no longer be neceesary shortly

The Port Errors are the problematical ones - Port-errors are ONLY a router or a line problem

Since Telkom started their upgrading of all 192 circuits to 384 and the 1024 cicuits to 4096 we have had a fair amount of issues with Netgear routers which was not the case before

I suggest you re-set the router to the factory defaults and then re-insert our settings

regards

Dave"

I've been using Cybersmart for 2 weeks and so far no problems.
I let the modem/router disconnect after 60 mins of inactivity so I don't ever get a disconnect in the middle of something anyway.

Some of us switch our PCs off when we go to bed. :D
