Anyone had brain surgery before?

Meds I am on is only really painkillers and vitamin B. Swelling is quite pronounced but is slowly coming down. Pain is ok, but difficult to sleep on one's back.

Just went to see the doctor the pathology came back. I have had to book a meeting with an oncologist who will advise on further treatment to remove anything left over that the surgeon could not remove. There were certain gene markers in the pathology whereby they do not want to play the sit and wait game as in 1-5 years it can change from a grade 2 to e.g a cancerous grade 5. The good news is that it was benign.

The bad news is that I will have to have radiotherapy or chemo or a combination of the two.

Good to hear it's benign.... Sorry about the treatment.

I've been through both chemo and radiation for breast cancer.... If you ever want advice or a listening ear......

Ended up almost dying due to internal bleeding causes by ruptured stomach ulcers. Then he recommended acupuncture. This was in Durban.

Hey, finished last week with my radiation and chemo. Had radiation every week day for 6 weeks and chemo via tablets every day for 6 weeks.

I now have another couple weeks break, then an MRI, based upon that we can see what has shrunk. I will then start chemo again for 6 months, but only 5 days a month at just over double dosage to what I have been taking.

Otherwise feel good, lost some weight as my appetite is not strong, and lost quite a bit of hair due to the radiation - looks like I passed out drunk and someone randomly shaved gaps on my head.

What I find interesting is that around the world brain cancer is the number 1 killer for people under 40 with regards to cancers - i.e it has a high mortality rate. However it only receives only 1% of all cancer research funds. Meh...

That's hectic. Strongs on the tendon repairs too, I know what that's like (and the physio that goes with it). Not fun and a little painful to say the least. I had tendons in my hand repaired twice in the 80s.
Praying for a full recovery for you and many healthy years ahead with your loved ones. May they be so epic that the pain fades in insignificance.

Did you go to Dr Edeling for the retina repair?
I have had a few eye surgeries with her in the past.

Stitches or staples?
I had 35 staples.
When he removed them, all I heard was "ping, ping, ping" as they hit the metal dish

Stitches or staples?
I had 35 staples
When he removed them all I heard was "ping, ping, ping" as they hit the metal dish

Stitches. Hurt like hell to come out though as the cut already had scabbed.
