Hi, I used to have NeoConnect Lite modem for few months.
I then upgraded from the Lite phone/modem to the NeoFlex data modem/wireless router.
I made the booking on +- 20 Jan , and got the device on 3 march because the device would only be enabled from start of month.
On saturday(27 feb) or sunday(1 march) I noticed that the NeoLite was very slow or disabled, which meant that i can't use the Device since I am on NeoFlex now.
I got neoflex modem on 3 march

To make it short , i followed setup instructions exactly, when i called neotel, they also did not have a fix,i was just gone through the setup process(connect modem via ethernet cable, turn on,inter ip address, enter login details, reboot device, then connect to internet).

They said other people get similar problem , and that after a day it automatically fixes itself,so tonight i will test again.

Anyone having this problem(note that after setting up device the Connect LED only turns green after +-10 second intervals and then switches off )Please reply and help:confused:
Ask me for more details if need them ,i make post short so people read it

It sometimes happens to me - I forced the modem to connect to EVDO instead of 1xRTT and EVDO and hardly happens now... not 100% if its going to work for u tho

When the EVDO/1x light is on or off it means that the modem connects to either of the network types. How can i force modem to connect to EVDO

when the light is on it means its connected to A network. Install axess manager that came on the cd with ure modem and youll be able to see which network ure on (EVDO or 1xRTT) and choose if you want to only use EVDO, 1xRTT or both. 1xRTT is extremely slow so its pretty pointless to have it selected.

Is it not ok to setup the modem without the axess manager.I just want to link it via Ethernet.I did install axess manager yesterday(and the usb drivers) to link the device with USB cable , but the axess manager was complaining about "Invalid RUIM inserted" and it(axess) closed automatically thereafter.
Do you think i just need to install axess manager without linking device via usb but only Ethernet cable.
Does this mean that the setup instructions that Neotel gave are wrong.

Also , underneath my modem it says it is model mv420 ,now in the axess manual , it says that you must install the software only if your modem is of model mv400R (otherwise you still can,it is not necessary although it does give you better modem control)... Based on that and what you wrote,is it necessary to install axess?

They are refering to the modem drivers, not the axess manager. U use the modem drivers if u want to connect via USB.

U can still use the axess manager software over wireless or ethernet without the usb cable - just make sure that switch next to the usb port on the modem is switched onto the ethernet ports, not usb. Connect ure ethernet cable, wait for the modem to detect and issue it an IP, then open up axxess manager and you will see it searching for a device and will find it. Then click menu and u can adjust all ure settings from there.

Thanks for advice.I will definitely try this and report later (2 hours time). But is it possible to connect to network without running that software. If installing it works, then neotel did not give proper setup procedure,if it doesn't then i'll just have to call them.I will probably report whether installing was successful or not. Thanks a lot!

Well, im trying to help you to get ure modem to connect to the neotel evdo network. Connecting ure laptop to the modem does not require you to do anything hectic.

Connect ure laptop to the modem via ethernet. Go to this website :http://192.168.0.1
Type in the username and password that neotel provided you on your contract.
Click Apply then go to system settings > reboot.

You should be connected to the network after that and should be able to surf just fine. Go to www.speedtest.net and do a speedtest and post ure results here.

That procedure i've done many times ,even neotel support told me to do it and it still did not work.(I think i've tried it about 10 times , I was also told to reset the modem and re do it but still not working)
Neotel support told me that the account is not disabled(because i asked them since i had neoconnect lite whose settings are used for the neoflex also and whether there is conflict in that)

I will do what you said,if not working,I will probably have to come to their office since that is an alternative they gave me and they can test which helps a lot.

Also, when ure in axessmanager, go to status and post the signal level for EVDO 1, EVDO 2, and RTT (Referred to as RSSI)

In most cases when you cannot connect with the neoflex modem initially it is due to the fact that they have not correctly provisioned your account for neoflex. What I suggest is that you insist they check the account settings. In my case it had to involve 1st a request for them to send a courier to collect my device as part of contract cancellation re their failure to deliver a workable service (which of course we are paying for).
The whole process involved asking to speak to a supervisor and insisting that I be put through to the tech dept, who once on the phone were able to resolve my initial connection problems within 3 minutes. The second challenge I faced was that they didn't provision my account for high speed access, this was resolved through a similar process on a second call (i.e. nothing worse than an Internet connection that only provides <50kbps speeds).

Good luck, my connection since this was resolved runs at best at 1.5mbps down and 800kbps up on a good signal. Of course after your initial issues are resolved you'll be in the same boat as the rest of us, with inconsistent connection speeds and frequent occasions where the EVDO light is either on or off. Yes Neotel still have problems, here's hoping they can resolve these soon.

Thanks. 1. axess manager couldn't connect me to internet.2. I will call supervisor.

Your only challenge now is to get to speak directly to the tech dept. Yes it's difficult but not impossible -- be insistent.
Second challenge is that they only work the typical 9 to 5 timeslots, so it'll have to wait until tomorrow.

All: If you are a new subscriber and the connection light goes off after +-10 seconds after rebooting or powering on the router, then you can be guaranteed your account was not setup correctly. I had this problem initially and unfortunately none of the forum or helpline advice could solve this issue. Keep in mind they're (Neotel) is a new company and neoflex is a new service hence mistakes in the configuration will still be common place.

I have the same connect/disconnect problem, but it is inconsistent. Sometimes I connect for days on end without any problem, and then one day it re-appears, lasts for a few days and then disappears.
Had me account checked numerous times for correct provisioning.
Also have the "Insert Valid RUIM" error.

I've tried it so many times, I've got arthritis in my index finger from clicking the left mouse button.
Bottom line, it's not supposed to do that.

Hi,

The AxessManager tool has exhibited a defect as described by some of you. The tool is provided by the device manufacturer as an added extra.

As per my PM please provide details regarding your issue specifically @ Mouba / Stoymigo and I will attempt to get this resolved by following up on the ticket(s) you have logged.

Hey neotel rep,

Is it a serious defect? Ive only been able to access the axessmanager a few times.

No it is not a serious defect @ all and does not limit speed - it is more of a utility for use especially on networks that use a RUIM (or SIM card)/

Since Neotel hard codes the information onto the device this RUIM is not necessary.
