Anyone have this problem? Neoflex data modem can't connect to internet

I call neotel , they say i must try attaching battery to device.(Don't know if that will make it work). The signal led is orange,I don't think that is a problem although neotel personnel said i must move it around but i can't connnect in first place.

For Mouba/Ushir,the insert valid ruim error,i realised when i opened the back of modem ,where the battery goes there is a RUIM slot which does not have card?

For neotel rep , can you tell me whether i must replace the device

No it is not a serious defect @ all and does not limit speed - it is more of a utility for use especially on networks that use a RUIM (or SIM card)/

Since Neotel hard codes the information onto the device this RUIM is not necessary.

Well you cant measure the rssi on the device without the manager you guys must have got these devices on the cheap(yard sale) without properly checking that everthing is ok and no annoying error messages.

I have the same connect/disconnect problem, but it is inconsistent. Sometimes I connect for days on end without any problem, and then one day it re-appears, lasts for a few days and then disappears.
Had me account checked numerous times for correct provisioning.
Also have the "Insert Valid RUIM" error.

I too get the Insert Valid RUIM message (key note is that a RUIM or SIM card is not required, but then again I'm not sure why the axess manager wants this?).

Anyway the RUIM issue doesn't affect my connection or speed, so you problems must be related to something else: most probably you are in the same boat as the rest of us who experience inconsistent speeds and disconnects and times of no connectivity. I suggest you PM the Neotel representative for assistance.

Attaching the battery will make no difference at all, it's only there for you to use the device when the power fails.

the RUIM is not needed as per Neotel post. If the connect light does not stay on then there is an account configuration issue. I too in the beginning had this problem, and foolishly believed walking around the house with the battery attached would help me find better signal. Well it didn't, the problem was configuration -- contact the Neotel rep on this forum to assist.

Neoflex modem connects to internet now.

Hi , the neoflex modem finally works.
I made a booking to go to woodmead branch today(and was allowed) so they can analyze modem.
The problem was fixed at the office. The user named "roi" was right in that some settings could not enable the modem to connect to internet.

The neotel rep fixed the problem .I received an email from neotel rep asking for my contact details after I had sent neotel rep a PM , so if i looked in my inbox prior to going to office i might not have needed to go to office.

Anyway I'm glad the modem Works:D,the callcenter personnel which i consulted from this morning and before were trying to be helpful but in this scenario they could not fix (I think because they not trained on it ,and plus this issue is rare).

I will have to roam around my house to try get best signal, and i think an external arial would be needed, because have many trees surrounding neighbourhood.

Thanks!

Neotel network problem

I have a network at home which my neotel modem is connected to , the entire network bombs out , I have to disable and re-enable the network card in windows and then it works again , but when i first got the modem I never had the problem , only after about a month now is this happening more and more often , I have taken into account that the modem could just be faulty but i thought i would ask around first , its not the signal the modem stays connected to the internet but the network ceases to function . It seems to be primarily the lan connection bombing out as the wireless lan connection seems to stay up on my laptop's.

Hi im about to get neoflex data 15gig and before i do anything i want to make sure that i can create a wireless network in my house. I currently have neotel prime unlimited and i cant create one as it only has USB and my router is only Ethernet so please help thanx :)

Sorry been using neoflex for about 3 months and there is no way i will confirm anything about them as i have seen nothing from them.

I have neoflex data 10gig and connect two PCs to it so they can access internet and access/transfer each other's files(wirelessly).

Hi Stoymigo,

I switched to NeoConnect prime 3 days ago and have overcome the problem of the USB cable by purchasing myself a Dovado router from Incredible Connection (Special for next 2 days R600 off - R1299 it is usually R1899, they are also selling iomega 1TB external hard drives for R1399).

Basically you can plug your NeoConnect Prime phone into this router and then you can share the internet connection wirelessly, it has 2 USB ports and you can also plug a normal usb modem into it for failover. I am achieving the same speeds(if not better) when using this router and am now able to use the connection with my netbook and iphone simultaneously.

There is quite a bit of information on their website at http://www.dovado.com - they are also extremely helpful if you email them, they released the latest firmware about 2 days ago which included the support for the neotel modems

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Here is a scenario you can use if you already have an ADSL router and want to use a USB modem as a failover or vice versa.

Diagram: http://www.twitpic.com/4cwpn

This way you get the advantage of the unlimited data account as your primary access, if any failures occur you failover to your "expensive" bandwidth option.
