Over at Prophecy Shop a few Force3d graphics cards have gone on sale. R 1000 for an HD 4830 is a really good price, unless I'm mistaken? R 900 for an HD 3870 is also nice.

However, I've seen some negative feedback on those cards on the internet for that particular brand. Cards dying and freezing really early on.

So does anyone here have any experience with the Force3d graphics card brand?

They tend to overheat and freeze, etc but the problems lie mainly with the HD4850 as not enough cooling power is provided. The HD4870 has no problems at all though.

That's the thing. The new HD 4830 model has what looks like an aftermarket cooling solution but the problem apparently prevails.

Besides, unless I'm mistaken they are the lowest priced brand I've seen so far. Anyone care to tell me why?

seen them at a lot of flea markets in the past....if that helps?

I think it's just some cheaper brand...usually not much to worry about IF nobody really complains much.

however, if you found a lot of bad reviews, it's usually something to be wary about.

just remember 1 thing, if you google "force 3d problem" you are bound to find bad things about it (i'm sure the corsair 1000W supply also has a few people saying it's rubbish - he got a bad unit but that might be only 1% of all units ?)

closest I find on pc international is a HD 4670 (1GB DDR2 PCI-E VGA / TVO / Dual DVI-I) for R967, which would probably be a sapphire...so you got a good deal there IMO..

best would be to read a few more sites till you are certain.

Read the Prophecy forums. I am active there and many people are all too happy to buy them, unless they're really rolling in cash.

I bought my Force3d 4850 in January, n i haven't has any problems since...:)

I bought the 4850 from prophecy on Thursday and received it Friday morning, i received excellent service and the card is simply great. Check the reviews at the bottom of the page of the 4850.

Also, visit the Prophecy shop forum, anyone will gladly answer any questions you may have.

I got a force 3d 3870 today, and yes they do have cooling issues. With fan speed set to auto the gpu used to reach 85 degrees under load! But after using rivatuner and setting the speed to 60 percent the temperature does not go over 65 under load and the card is silent

so i would say that they make good budget cards!

I got a forec3d HD 3850 .... neva really had much probs with it!

There are a few reasons for this.

1. It's a relatively new brand in South Africa. It's a brand by Inno3D, which makes Nvidia cards.
2. The local supplier is pretty aggressive with sales and pricing.
3. We have a very good relationship with the supplier, because we sell a lot of the Force3D cards. Due to this, we get very good pricing.
4. Force3D seems to have redesigned all their cards, which is why they're now coming in at such a good price.

All and all, it's a very good brand. It comes with a 3 year warranty and we've had very few issues with it. Lastly, the supplier is very good with replacements and credits and swaps out very quickly, if they have stock. If not, they're quick to credit, which makes for excellent after sales support.

So, I would not feel at all nervous about putting a Force3D in my own machine, if I was in the market for one. I can promise that you will not feel dissatisfied with the card or with the brand, and if you are unfortunate enough to have an issue, there is a 3 year warranty and a very good local importer which will back you up all the way :)

I bought a Force3D HD4870 3 weeks ago from Prophecy and couldn't be happier. It arrived in less than 2 days. Paid on Monday and got it on Wednesday morning. The card is quiet and runs at 54 degrees max on load which is a lot lower than some other brands. (it also auto-overclocked to 790Mhz core and 1090Mhz memory with the ATI-overdrive software that came with it)

I did'nt even know that when i bought it

I've only seen this card go up to the early 50 degree range which is brilliant considering that its running a 22" on max resolution
