Anyone mounted a Yagi on a Dish ?

I was wondering if anyone has tried to mount a yagi onto a satelite dish.
If so post pics, results, or links where more info can be found . tks.
 
Doubt it will make difference

Due to the design of the yagi, the last mast behind the driving/driven antenna does the job to reduce rear tear drop coverage and have a more focused beam.

however I may be wrong. quite honestly save the time and buy a grid, the 24dbi is really hectic!
 
Price wise i am looking at a dish , currently have a 12dB yagi but need to push through some trees so thought i could modify a dish + yagi .
Looks like i will have to go shopping for a dish+feed etc...
 
I have not mounted a Yagi on a dish as such but I have managed to mount two yagi's, two grids and one dish on my roof... Does that count? :D

Seriously though.... I currently have a yagi (14dbi) directly behind a 25dbi Dish pointing in the opposite direction, and over this link (210m) we can get our speeds up to 1.7mb

I am not sure if the 'back' of the dish has anything to do with the good signal, I doubt it though...
 
During a test for PWP we got speeds of 1.7Mb/s over a distance of 1.4 km using an LG wifi adapter.

We used a 24 dBi grid as a "reflector", the grid is not ideal for this purpose. We will be using a wok next time (mayby today). We were using a 18 dBi flat panel on the other side.

We also used a tiny piece of metal (about the size of my hand) as a "reflector" and where able to get 0.5 Mb/sec.

Without any "reflectors" we were about to get speeds around 4 Kb/sec.

The total cost of a wok usb combo will only be around R300 or less containing all cabling needed.

I know this is a little off topic, but it gives you a little idea about homemade antennas.
 
The total cost of a 12Db yagi is around R300. Those USB adapters are typically very underpowered. I can really recommend a decent miniPCI, or PCI adapter based on the Atheros chipset. They perform very well and have very good receive sensitivity ratings.
