Anyone ordered a new line from Openserve recently ?

Anyone ordered a new line from Openserve recently ? How long did it rake for the install to happen ?
OS are really quick, ordered a new activation in Dec and it was done within 1day (the place had fibre already just needed activation)

Not sure how a complete install would take

Early December, I ordered a new install on the Friday (the day our part of the neighbourhood went live as per Openserve map) and an installer came out on Monday afternoon... however due to some technical difficulties I only went live on Thursday morning.

Turns out even though it was said to be live on the map, the exchange wasn't quite ready yet. lol

If it wasn't for the issues at the exchange, I would've been live Tuesday morning at the latest.

Depending on the area and if the order flows the installation can take place same day.

My experience has been a tad frustrating. I applied for fibre via Cool Ideas on 3 Jan at a residence we moved into on 1 Feb. When we moved in, a fibre line and ONT was already installed and I could connect and browse with an unrelated Vox ADSL account I keep for backup purposes.

After some back and forth I was told they cannot proceed with activating the line in my name because "OpenServe has picked up multiple orders placed with other ISPs for this address." I didn't place any other orders, so contacted the previous tenant who confirmed that she did cancel the line (which was with MWeb) on 20 Jan. (so possibly still within their 1-month notice period for cancellations?)

On 12 Feb, CISP said: "Please note that Openserve cancelled the order we placed, we have however placed a new order and requested that our service manager assists and move the order forward for configuration". I received the OS order nr.

Still waiting at this stage. Using RAIN (ugh) for the time being.

If there is more than 1 order from different ISPs the order just hangs and does not progress at all until one of the ISPs cancels an order the it progresses.

The B number might be in the holding pool and still work. After 12 days in the holding pool it's suspended and doesn't work anymore. 3 days after that the line gets ceased and a new provide order needs to be placed.

Hi, What's your ref number?

Your Issue is Mweb, they are horrible at canceling lines. Had this issue with a client as well. Took us ages to get the Mweb line dropped.

You can phone their helpdesk and they will be like "your line is set to be cancelled" but they don't. You have to escalate it a million miles around in circles until someone press the cancel button. Mweb's whole cancellation strategy is very malicious.

Got back to South Africa today, went to the Telkom store to try and get an update, and they can’t even find the order number......

In a surprise turn of events, I received a call from Telkom before 8 this morning to come and install by 9. Cool Ideas had me setup and active by Noon - so thanks @PBCool and your team for getting it done so fast.

I ordered Openserve on Friday 26 Feb. Nothing of an install so far. Apparently my area is not live live even though it shows live on the map. (It went live the same day I ordered)
Afrinatic has checked for me what's the issue and apparently 'there isn't fibre leads linked to my address. They are investigating the issue.'

Guess I just wait

I ordered on the 25 and it is exactly the same issue for me.
I thought by now I would be enjoying low latency and truly uncapped internet.

I ordered on the 24th Feb. Still no call or update. CISP won’t follow up with openserve as they say it’s still within the SLA :(

Hi @PBCool

Any update? I see at https://apps.telkom.co.za/eportal/Public/myOrders it says:

What does "Sad to see you go" mean?
Any updates ? I received my router from Afrihost this morning. No call from Openserve whatsoever. the anguish I am experiencing rn :cautious::crying:

@mathebus nothing yet. But Cool Ideas have now escalted it and are finding out what the hold up is from Openserve. Will let you know when I hear more.

You are not alone, the experience has not been good so far.

There is no update. Last I heard was on Tuesday from @AfriNatic saying Openserve apparently botched something with the address process. It does not look good so far. Check out this guy below:

Hi,

Yeah unfortunately I don't have any feedback yet.

Klipkop/Parowvallei is a bit of a problem. The fibre addresses has not been loaded correctly and these orders are all at Openserve planning as there are no slim boxes allocated to these orders.
