I hear all most all games on PS3 are rendered at 720p if not lower resolutions then upscaled.

I also heard that 1080p on PS3 looks worse than 720p.

I have yet to touch my ps3 however I have a 1080p monitor and when I put it to 720p in games it looks TERRIBLE. Looks like PS2 graphics.

If the PS3 1080p going too look at terrible? since its games are 720p?

Anyone have personal experience with playing a ps3 at 1080p?

Thanks.

The PS3 does have a few 1080p titles but there aren't a lot of them, on my TV though when I put in 720p games it automatically drops the res down to that and it still looks fantastic, but a TV has a different scaler to a monitor. I've never tried on my 1080p PC monitor, but I do know the reason why your graphics are looking bad is because the resolution is below the native resolution of your monitor. Also trust me if you could plug your PS2 into a HD TV and see what it looks like on that you will never say that a game running 720p looks like that.

Currently all games i want to play on my PS3 on my SAMSUNG 2494HS monitor looks crap, Realy looks like PS2 Graphics.. I've done some more research and people say that 1080p Native games will show better? But now again what games are availeble 1080p native, I cant play 720p games with PS2 Graphics looks realy crap.

Something's up with your monitor. Go look at the PS3 demo stands in Incredible Connection and Game. The graphics look fantastic.

I'm playing xbox 360 on a P2350G on 1080p and the graphics are sharp and smooth.

Check your HDMI cable could be dodgy.

I have a samsung 24 inch full hd computer monitor and 95% of the games look great on it was a bit disspointed with Infamous but Final Fantasy which has 1080p looks brilliant

Yes i basicly got the same, 24" Samsung Monitor Full HD Final Fantasy the latest one i tested and worked fine and looked nice! But games like Prince of Persia,Sonic Thats mostly only 720p looked like PS2 games on my PS3.

Samsung 1080p (40" or more) here - everything looks great.

You shouldn't be able to tell the difference between 720p and 1080p from the cuff on anything smaller than 46".

With that said, before my 47" HiSense conked, GT5: Prologue looked fantastic in 1080p. Still does on the 42" Philips...

So the best is to get a 40" or Higher Full HD screen or higher.. That can handle 720p and 1080p ? Because my Current screen can only handle 1080p perfect.

Actually u can see the diffrence between 720p and 1080p the picture is more refined and clearer and brighter compared to 720p

Does the PS3 only output the game's maximum resolution or scale it up to whatever output resolution you select? I'd expect the latter. And I'd expect the PS3 to do a better job than the monitor scaling the image.

You definitely should be able to tell the difference between 1080 and 720 on a 24" screen. You definitely do not need a screen bigger than 46" to do so.

Well i forced it even to play 720p games to upscale to 1080p.. But still showed like 2d PS2 games, Even i set it to automatic but still the same. So i want to test more 1080p native games and see how those looks, because currently all 720p games looks realy crappy on my 24" Screen.

The PS3 will look at the game's native resolution and output it. It will not upscale a game to 1080p from 720p, but will downscale from 1080p to 1080i/720p/576 if configured to do so due to connected display limitations. It will not do so by itself. It has a fail-safe option of 576i/p which cannot be unselected, so if you configure it to only display 1080p/i or 576p/i and a game is 720p, it will downscale it to 576p.

If you are used to PC gaming, even just having a mid spec PC, consoles will look terrible to you. You have to get used to it.

Took me months to accept it's only 1280x720 with a max of AAx2 (looks blurry unlike a crystal clear pc game running at native) which looks worse for some reason on PC monitors. Sitting about 1,5m from a 32" HDTV helps a lot.

Yea you are right here.. I think my games downscale to 576p. Because i checked and i cant deselect that one and i only made it so 1080p is selected.. Even well i did select all aswell and still get ugly GFX.

Go Settings, Game Settings, and turn on PS Upscaler? Or does that just change the size of video displayed? I've never had it off.
