Anyone play PS3 on 1080p?

If you are used to PC gaming, even just having a mid spec PC, consoles will look terrible to you. You have to get used to it.

Took me months to accept it's only 1280x720 with a max of AAx2 (looks blurry unlike a crystal clear pc game running at native) which looks worse for some reason on PC monitors. Sitting about 1,5m from a 32" HDTV helps a lot.

It depends what monitor your are gaming on. And I don't see what native 1080p does to a game that makes it look better compared to 720p.

Games like Gears 2, PGR4, Uncharted are packing more graphics than what PC games are.

Been there for as long as I can remember... Not that my memory is all that great. Upscaler and smoothing are the only options under game settings.

Yea you are right here.. I think my games downscale to 576p. Because i checked and i cant deselect that one and i only made it so 1080p is selected.. Even well i did select all aswell and still get ugly GFX.

What monitor are you using? Is it HDCP compliant? HDCP compliance determines whether it can upscale or not.

You are truly clueless.

Safe to say you've never gamed on gaming PC in your life.

Hilarious. Go load up a PC game at 1920x1080 then come back to me. Not to mention AA x 8 and AF x 16, which good PC's can handle. Thanks.

Can't believe I'm actually explaining this.

Oh but remember. On a PC screen, you sitting like 30cm away from the screen. So ratio from screen to tv / viewing distance = worse looking games.

I just went to Hifi-Corp and there was probally like a 32" TV and had PS3 hooked up on and and the games that was played on that was extremely good! And most of those games i play on my screen looks realy crap towards that looks like PS2 games, and like i said before it looks like games with 720p on my screen kick itself to 57x something thats why it looks so crap.

Okay go to a friends house with an LCD TV, if he doesn't have a PS3 lug yours along, if he does, take the games along test them there. There is no possible way that a PS3 game running at 720p will look like a PS2 game which would've run at 576p tops. Also the PS2 could not handle the textures, AA and various other vast hardware improvements the PS3 has. Your main problem is the fact that your monitor's native resolution is 1920x1080 which means when you are putting in a game that max runs at 1366x720 it will look worse then it should, that is not the PS3's fault but the monitors. To get an idea of TV prices take a look at the various retailers but they start at around R2999 for an entry level 32"

Ye you are correct, Thats what i just said.. Looks like my screen is only 1280 x 1080 Native, So a game thats for 720p looks like shiz on my current screen.

What TV's would be nice to look at for PS3 gaming ?

PC games are not designed for 1080p either. All the graphics engines do is upscale the pixels. 16xAA and 8xAF mean squat if you are sitting further than 1.5m from a monitor. That's something PC gamers don't do.

It's not about knowing about PC gaming, it's knowing about GAMING.

No they're not.

Why would you sit that far away from a PC monitor?

PC games ultimately don't have the graphics limitations of the consoles. You pay for that with the potential added cost of maintaining the necessary hardware as well as possible compatibility issues and having to keep current with drivers.

Dude, there is no limitation in resolution for modern PC games. WTF?

You are absolutely not making ANY sense at all. You def don't game on a PC whatsoever.

I bought myseld the Samsung 32" Full HD TV Series 5 from Game going for R6499 was on special the weekend for R4899 So i am happy now looks way way better than on my 24" PC LCD screen no more blocks or PS2 like games.

Cool glad you got a New telly to play with and that it resolved the issue. Now go get some Blu-Rays ;-)
