Anyone playing DayZ Standalone?

But is it still a situation of having to prone everywhere?
Can you run uphill to escape like before?
I got a bit tired of proning so much to avoid the zeds.
yes it has its moments but too much proning annoyed me.
Proning for kms is not fun.

Wouldn't say you needed to prone everywhere. Only time I prone is for surveillance, sniping, hiding or playing dead. I'm still more afraid/wary of other survivors than zeds. If there's one or two zeds, I wouldn't waste the time by crawling past them; a trusty fireman's axe or the lesser used chopping axe trims them down to size quickly.

AFAIK they still have that super vision and will come charging you from 800m away, but field of view and noise levels still play a factor. Due to their increased speed, escaping might take a bit more effort now, but yes, you can still do the uphill run (provided that you run at a proper angle).

They are "imbalanced" at this stage, the devs have openly admitted that, as a result of a combination of bugs and/or functionality that doesn't exist yet. Fun times playing an Alpha.

On a side note; due to the recent updates enabling zed spawning, one of the new tactics employed is to herd a bunch of zeds to a critical point in a town (building, water well) or to the entrance of a town, which will supposedly scare other players away or act as a defense for snipers positioned on top of apartment buildings. Haven't tried it myself, but seems rather clever.

If any of you were at the NW airfield last night (think it was gamezone 2), and got a crazy shot on me as I was crawling in the trees outside the gate to tent city... please let me know how.

I was crawling BEHIND two bushy trees, you were 400metes away and not only spotted me but one-shot me too. Is there some graphics setting that removes foliage?

When I read NW Airfield, i immediately thought Campers Paradise. Just might've been somebody that was scoping out the area and was waiting for a clear/perfect shot?

OR...
You can tweak some of the graphics (have a look on the steam community for the FPS boost thread) to basically disable certain items and I've heard of deleting certain game files that'll give you an advantage as well (like making buildings transparent). There are some "hackers" (script kiddies with teleport and god mode) server hopping every now and then (seen on SYOS and on the previous NFX Hardcore servers), so wouldn't be totally surprised if it was one of them.

So, whether an exploit was used or not, maybe it was just a lucky shot.
What gear were you wearing (clothes colour, backpack & colour, weapon?) and what colour was your character? People are generally not as camo'd as they think they are (even camo gear can make you stand out) and a Mosin with LRS is pretty potent.

To whoever mowed my friend and I in a red house in Elektro as we spawned. Thanks, we respawned, found a magnum with 12 bullets and proceeded to kill 3 fully kitted played in Berinzino.

I was/am very tempted to buy it, but people say that the game is in a shocking state even for a pre-alpha. After my experience with Arma 3 when I bought it while it was still in alpha, I was very much disgusted to see the game I was waiting so long for in such a horrible state. I think at this time it's better to wait for the beta, so you can have an almost full experience.

While it is a bit glitchy and buggy, it is crazy fun to play. People seems to forget that the game is PRE-Alpha, and personally for a Pre-ALPHA version of a game - it it very stable. I enjoy it more than some of the "Tripple-A" Titles out there.

If you get it - keep in mind that it is stilll under development, that being said - it is awesome - and I cannot wait to see the polished & complete game.

Personally, I'd say wait it out. Zombies are really no threat at all so it devolves into a PvP scenario very quickly. Not that there's anything wrong with that but since surviving is so easy there really isn't much else to do in the game, so I quickly became bored of it. Once you figure out that you can gear yourself up in less then 30 minutes and get back to shooting people, death loses all meaning.

Just clocked 300 hours.
PM me your SteamID if you would like to tag along with some friend and I on weekends.

So I started playing yesterday, was on one of the mweb servers but never saw another player. I believe I died of hunger in the end.

Be my fwend?

Haven't played in a year after the devs broke it with a patch and a bunch of local players decided that hacks (teleporting, aimbot) were the way to go.

In all honesty, wrote the game off as dead in alpha hell and learnt that developers will use early access status every bit they as delay tactics, while pulling in more "investors".

What's the playability like now?

The frame rate and general performance of the game is much better these days.
