How did you get a 14 day trial? I don't feel like paying $19.95 just to try the game out. Everything is installed and ready...

Gave it a try...pretty impressed..

I played beta *wow ages ago* I seem to remember like mini videos of your ship docking into station and you able to walk around space station to buy diff items/weps mods for ship.

Have they changed this? Also i am sure Westwood did this at start didnt they?
I dont see any sign of em...Well either way its loads better..

Or i could be thinking of a diff game :p

Yeah earth an Beyond was apparently quite nice.
Though in the end it just didn't have the dynamic feel to it to keep the players happy.

Hell it got so bad that even the dev's let ppl macro mine in the end just to keep the economy running.

One thing to be said bout eve is its superior uber duber economy. It's mostly player run with only a certain amount run by npc's. If you buy something in eve 99% of the time its a rl person your buying it from.

General stats of the game.

Over 5000 systems
4 playable races......Jove not included.
80k player base.
About 10-18k ppl playing usually at one time.
No instancing. Basically the whole of eve is being run at the same time. There's no special dungeons or what not that just your little party is using but no one else.

Unlike most mmorpgs where you kill something an gain experience from it, in eve if you train a skill you only have to click train an viola the skill wil train in rl time till it's finished.

Join "Assegai" a few long established south african eve players live in that channel :) u can catch me on there a few hours of the day. And with reguards to the shaping post... Openweb any one ? :D

Regarding cap usage. I'd just like to say that's utter tosh. eve has to be one of the bandwidth friendly games out there. a friend plays continiously on his 3gb acc an he's never even over a gig in eve usage. Hell i'd wager to say he doesn't even make 500mb a month.

Eve is even playable on 56k's. Even know a couple ppl that play it on isdn/iburst/sentech. Damn u got internet. U can play eve plain an simple.

Started on Friday evening. Loving it so far. IGN Slaughter SteelGrave. Found a nice way to make money in starting area, halfway to getting my destroyer!

I went to the the DL page and it said the download is 500mb'ish, however I remember somebody (in here) mentioning 2gb+.

If I get the 500mb DL is that it or do I still need to patch? What will the total size of the intial DL/Patch be? (3G cap sucks!)
 
well my game is over 3gig already. Haven't checked the download in a while so might be quite smaller.

Once you install the game it quickly becomes quite large.
Just from all your cache, log, capture, screenies that you get it gets quite big.


Just checked the download page. The client is sitting at bout 501 megs for the current version. So 501mb download and viola no patching needed.

For a lot of us who've been playing the game for a while we've got the original and then patches to current. Think i'm sitting with bout 20 patches to get to the current build.

So if you download now. You save yourself from all that patching nice.
 
Just wait till Friday when they repatch the game again, you can then download the new full build which will be around 500mb, so u dont have to worry about patches etc.

On average the agme will only use about 50-60mb of bandwidth per 24hour period.

Im just waiting for my new HDD and then im redoing my PC. After that I will go for the 14 day trail and take it from there :)
 
I am getting my sister to bring retail version from UK ...so i get 30 days and not pay full 19 Euro for game... *its 4 quid on ebay*

I really love it... Although i am still very confused.

Its a great game, been playing for over 2 years and still not bored with it :)
