Anyone use VW insurance ?

Its probably underwritten by some other insurer......

No guarantee that the premium will stay the same forever....

Underwritten by Hollard, same thing as Hondasure (who I have my insurance with).

Pricing is good, general service is ok. Claims not so much, the SO had endless hassles when claiming after she was hit from behind.

Outsurance has given me the best service so far, worth the extra R180pm IMHO.

It's underwritten by Hollard, so absolutely fine in principle. Remind your friend to weigh up both premiums and excess payments in the event of a claim though... actually every detail of each policy has to be weighed to see where you're really getting the best value for money.

Read the fine print.

Note differences in excess and also exclusions.

I would rather pay more in premiums and get better value.

Does premium include car hire ? excess waiver ? discount with tracker ?

One really has to compare apples with apples when being insured ....

@ SAM give Forbes a call.

Excess, premiums and all that the same? Just check what you are paying for (comparing apples with apples). I remember Outsurance offered me a package that was R200 cheaper than the one at Santam, but basically didn't cover anything; 12 months later, when I was shopping around for insurance deals, Outsurance had the better package than Santam.

Haven't claimed from Outsurance... yet... but have heard that it's generally a mission to get anythign from them.

the excess is around the same

the thing is they say if the car is written off they replace with similar car

singhboy is forbes cheap ...will contact them

Late 20s, but my car probably more expensive.

Strange, you always came off as a youngster to me. :o

If you're in your late 20s with a Ballade, living in a safeish area with no previous history of claims abuse, yours should also be closer to the R600 mark. Perhaps phone and see if you can get it reduced?

Also remember that vehicles depreciate monthly but premiums are reviewed annually. One has nothing to lose, ( if claim free) to tell insurer you are moving if they dont reduce premiums....

That's why you should phone every few months and ask them to readjust your premium.

then one might come across as a nag and will receive poor service.

Also , any insurer is at no liberty to DECREASE your premiums. They base their escalations on multiple variables and they can easily tell you to fsckoff and take your business elsewhere....

It doesn't hurt, at least it's never hurt me before. And I get a discount every time I phone. Happened with Hondasure (Hollard), happened with Outsurance beforehand too.
