Hey peeps

I'm thinking about getting the 2Mbps Afrihost Uncapped Unshaped @ R397. What I want to know is just how "unshaped" this account is? For example if I download torrents how "unshaped" will it be? I know all ISP's give P2P a very low priority on the network. I'm not going to be downloading torrents all the time but I'm just curious.

Anyone? :wtf:

On our Business Uncapped, which is completely unshaped, there is no QoS or priority set on traffic. Whatever services you run locally would only be in contention with other services on your local network, we don't give any protocol priority.

You are never shaped, on any protocol, regardless of your usage or time of day :)

That is same price as 4 meg which I'm on and for a home user that is perfect, you don't need to be unshaped all day if you download 2-3 torrents a day.

The increased speed comes in handy for other services like gaming, skype and youtube running at the same time.

Thanks a lot. I'm glad to hear that.

Hmmmmm  Ok i guess I might to take another look at what I should be going for. On average during peak hours what type speeds do you get on torrents?

I use news servers and they are uploaded at night and I'm not at home during the day. Maybe wait for someone who uses torrents to reply. Why do you want to torrent in the day anyway? Que them before work and whatever you missed when you get back.

Torrents speeds depend on amount of seeds too..

I understand that. Just checking what kinda speeds I can get because current ISP shaping news server and torrents. I understand shaping on both. Just wanna see where I can either full speeds or close to full speeds on both.
