Anyone using an ASUS ATI 4870?

I have a Sapphire 4870X2. My first card failed after 3 weeks of building the system. It just died, although the fan was still going I am now on my second card. Touchwood. Awesome performance, and equally good response from PC International.

Sapphire is the way to go

I used to go with the old asus nvidia products, and i remember them having fan problems back in the day...

with ATI and Sapphire now, and Im very happy, got the following card

I had the release version as well, with the rev 1.0 fan version and it was noisy as hell, so I sold it and bough the rev 1.1 fan version, also got some heatpipe tech on it.. nice

Yeah actually get it refunded and buy a 1gb card imo

The fan is a bit noisy at times but it does keep the card cool

Spot on, 4870X2 is a noisy card. I run mine at a manual fan speed of around 45% when gaming, and 20% for surfing etc. That's in summer. Now that its getting cooler at night the card also runs a little cooler so I am trimming down the speed for gaming to around 25%.

The card has a "backstop" ie even on manual fan speed it will ramp up the fan if it gets too hot.
