Hi Guys

Want to know if anyone is currently using the 8MB bonded ADSL and how it performs?

Ok seems no one is using it. I'm in the process of ordering will report back.

We got bonded dsl at the office over 3 lines. Our exchange is highly congested and our lines are bad. During the day we only manage around 700kbits over the 3 lines. at about 6, a speed test gives 6.6 mbits. at about 7 we have downloads running at around 8 or 9 mbits.

So yes, you do get that speed, our exchange is just messed :D

We tried using the Vox bonded lines for video conferencing using 4x4mb lines so we could do single HD calls or SD multipoint. We are looking at other options now as the performance is too spikey for VC. One day one office is fine the next is is rubbish and all that happens is Vox blame Telkom and Telkom blame Vox. The speeds varies between 200kbit and about 14mbit for download and between 10kbit and 2.2mbit on uploads.

Thanks Prof. Do you mind telling me what exchange you are on?

Same happens with us. But we now got an official report from mweb stating that the problem is on telkoms side

I am pretty sure that all the problems lie at Telkom exchanges, certainly before the 10mb upgrades performance was better than it is now.

What i found interesting, is that at our office, during the day, our latency out of the office is usually between 500ms and 1000ms during the day. When mweb's intl links went down 2 days ago, our latency dropped to around 40ms(which is what it should be). When the intl links came back on again, the latency peaked through the roof.

I am guessing that there are a lot of uncapped mweb users in randfontein. And when intl traffic went down, the exchange recovered since there was not as much traffic anymore
