Anyone using SAWIRELESS

Question!

@SaWireless

Hi. Im about to get your 1meg home user package. I would just like to know if, during the installation, they will be able to set up my wireless router with the connection as i have two laptops in my house which i would like to have connected.

@8-Ball
Got a reply from sales and with regard to their P2P policies, they are cut to 64K during peak hours (7am-10pm) and from 10pm-7am you will have full bandwidth.

well that has about done it for me... on numurous occasions i have sent emails to sawireless regarding when their techie is going to come around to do a test. Nothing... not even a peep... so without beating around the bush i leave sawireless with one question: How do you actually manage to stay alive when you ignore potential clients like myself and btw that money i was willing to waste... pfft think no more because it aint yours anymore ;)

coz maybe they got one techie and a long waiting list of potential customers?
Or their email server is down?
Or they're just lazy and dont give a rat's ass :p

We used Sawireless when we lived in the area. They were quick to install, and everything was running great. It was definitely true - there were no caps, and we got 1 meg speeds pretty consistently.

Unfortunately, things went a little haywire. Various issues at the towers and other vague events ended up meaning as much downtime as uptime. Mid December, the line went down - when we moved at the end of the year, it had been down for over two weeks, and everyone that knew anything was apparently on holiday, according to the person who answered their phones. Our move was a sudden one, so it never did get resolved before we left.

Additionally, for some reason our SNR took a serious dive. Every call we made was met with a promise that someone would be out to check the antenna to be sure it was aligned correctly. I swear we called them on a weekly basis. After a month and a half, someone finally came out and made an adjustment.

My summary of Sawireless: when it works, it's brilliant. But if you need your connection reliably - as I do for my business - the downtime just ends up being too much of a liability. Luckily I had 3G as a backup, but still very frustrating. In the three-odd months we used them, I'd say we had about 1 month of downtime altogether.

Maybe they've gotten all those issues worked out since we moved - it has been three months, after all. I will say that they were always very friendly to me and pleasant in attitude. But I'd be hesitant to use them again, simply because I can't afford to be uncertain whether the internet is going to work tomorrow, next week or five minutes from now.

Oh, one other point that I consider important. I was never able to use P2P effectively, regardless of the time of day. Forwarded all my ports, checked all my settings - nothing. Speaking with one of Sawireless's crew, they said they had to open ports on each of the towers between me and the main tower. After three months, not once was I ever able to achieve over 5k downloads. Considering that's one of the big draws of an uncapped account - and that they said P2P wasn't a problem (though restricted during the day), I was really disappointed with that aspect.
