I am planning to start the new year without Telkom in my house. Currently on Telkom Fastest and 5gig lite from Axxess.

Can anyone please comment on their experience using Sonic Wireless.

I like their 4096kbps unshaped 5gig package for R399, top up R59 per gig, installation R1499

One point that worries me is the following from their T&C's

Speeds are burstable up to the advertised speed

What is the average speed that I can expect? Contention ratios? etc.

PM me and I'll give you a number of an ex client of theirs that you can talk to about their service levels.

I have been looking at them also and I wanted to know the exact same thing. They are busy with the repeater that will cover my area but I want to know what the average speed is I can expect to get.
Anyone?

will do so, when i go on leave, atm i dont sleep on the net...so give me a few days and ill post it here.

I asked them what speed I can expect 4096kbps 5gig unshaped package and got the following reply:

You should experience around 2-3mbps during the day and close to 4mbps after hours.
We do not publish contention ratios but the unshaped accounts are much faster than the uncapped and have a lower contention ratio compared to that of the uncapped.

Can anyone using them confirm this?

Thanks for the info Slumdawg, couple of questions:

Which package are you on?

Do you know the make & model of the radio (AP) they provided to you?

I've been with Sonic Wireless for a couple of months and must admit their system is extremely stable. Besides the 4MB download I get between 3/4MB upload which I have not seen from anyone else. I've been with 4 different wireless companies and this one is on top taking speed, stability and cost in consideration.

Sonic Wireless

Hey !!

I have requested information from Sonic Wireless, looking to get the 3GIG, 1024kbps line at home for after hours working.
Does anyone of you have it and could you please give me feedback. My work is online for a marketing company and I cannot dare get a unreliable line.

I really do not want to opt for a TELKOM or similiar ADSL line

We live in Strand. They told me that the reception in Strand is extremely good - but then again - which sales person will not?

Thanks

I used Sonic Wireless for 3 years, one of the best service providers I have encountered, James knows his story.

I have had dealings with Sonic many times over the past couple of years and they are very professional , i concur with the above , James knows his story

I have been using them at home for the past 15 Months, as Telkom Lines in the area are too congested. I am on their Home Uncapped 4mb Down 512kbps Up.

Service is excellent and the speed test below speaks for itself. I am getting what I pay for :-)

The site has been under construction for a while now, anyone know what there going rates are for their packages now-a-days?

I use to use there 2MB UNCAPPED for R699 for about 9 months and never had a days problem, but after we had lines installed at our complex, I switched over to ADSL as I got double the speed for just a little extra.

You can get a 5Mg line with 1 Mg upload for R899.
Comparable to a 10Mg Adsl line.
If you contact them through their website they wil help you with pricing!
