Anyone using Sonic Wireless in Cape Town?

DONT BUY SONIC.

It is never there fault if you dont get the service or speed that you are paying for. If you are planning of having more then one device connected to your wifi, your speed will drop drastically not just a few bits, but megabits. And if you are planning to go uncapped, you will be at the bottom of their priority list. When you phone customer service it will always be you fault and never on their side.

This is just a warning...I dont want anyone else to make the same mistake then me. I would rather deal with telkom then with sonic. And that should say everything.

I am with Sprintnet and have exactly the same frustrations with them. I was also on the Telkom site this morning looking at options. That should give you an indication of my frustrations.

I believe sprintnet is using sonic's towers

So who else can we use for Wireless? Seems like FTTH home in Strand residential areas is not a priority at the moment. And ADSL is not an option due to line issues and exchange distance.

Sometimes they might be right. Not to pick sides, but without some detail, you can't just flame a company if the problem might actually be on your side.

Hey, could anyone assist me with a good ISP that I could use for home based teaching online, I have been in contact with Sonic because I stay in Kuils River and the line speed I could get is up to 2mbps. With Sonic they offering a satellite connection but would weather be a big problem for me?

Thanks in advance

Hi jacobsbronia

Try contacting Comtel communications & hear what they have to offer you & I think the weather will have an effect on satellite connection.

Never had any of these issues in almost 3 years with Sonic, whenever i have a problem i call them and they sort it out almost immediately.

Can you tell us what area you are in?

Not a happy chap right now.

I applied over the weekend after getting some good sales assisstance.

Wednesday - The survey team was on their way! All happy at this point until they call and say they can't get in. I ask him where he is and turns out he was given the wrong address. He then states he is not allowed to come to the right address despite being 1 block down as the address he was at is what it says on his docket.

It's Friday now and I still haven't heard back from them.

Problem is, I can't get a DSL Line as Telkom keeps cancelling my order with no reason (Was given a reason of "ports are full" once, 7 months ago in June) No waiting list or anything, just straight up cancelled.
Can't get Fibre as its only being put down above Main Rd in Parklands, and I'm just below Main Rd(estimating next year sometime for it to come down this side)
Other Wisps say they don't service the area.

So on Monday they eventually got back to me. Turns out he was in the entirely wrong suburb all along.(down in Sea Point, not Parklands).
Tuesday they came to Survey, that went well with clear LOS.
Installation is happening on Monday.

So quantum714, I'm surmising that the installation in Parklands was successful?
How have you found the service & which package did you opt for?

Thanks in advance!
