Anyone using the iburst 6Gb or 9Gb package

There is no p2p shaping on the 9gb account. I currently use Limewire Pro and am frequently downloading content at greater than 100KB/s. Its a beautiful thing.
 
Wow, that sounds great. And youve got 9gigs, lucky you.

So how is the shaping on any other port or app? Still existent?
I believe they only unshape P2P on the 9gig account, which is pretty much all you need unshaped, but for some other arb applications is the connection still throttled to 64kb?
 
I think some protocols may still be shaped, but since I don't use any of them (that I'm aware of) it doesn't effect me. There was a list of unshaped protocols on the old iburst website, but I don't see a similar one on the new site.
 
Id be pretty amazed if they werent.

Im geussing they are because it says all p2p and file transfer ect is unshaped, this is their top service they can really cut off Torrents.

I think they are. I'm going to try out some torrents soon. On the 3gb package torrents only worked using proxy servers, and even then it was usually very slow. It will be interesting to see.

They are classified as p2p, but we want to know if they are unshaped by Iburst. Is that what you mean?

Iburst might only unshape actual p2p apps, but I'm shure torremts would come hand in hand with this.
 
I am using the 9gig package without proxy servers with torrents and it works great and i can get speeds of up to 80KB/s and more and i dont live in a dark green area on the Iburst map but Iburst is going to install a new tower in the area which will defnitly help more.

I want more bandwith for R1099 but the 9gig account works great for now
 
Now i see that you mention you can get speeds up to 80kb/s (Hein_jhb) or more for p2p (torrents) on the 9gb package.
But what i'd really like to know is how are the speeds after you've reached your cap?
Does the p2p app actually download at 64kb/s 'cos thats supposed to be the throttling speed once cap has been reached?
(given that there is nothing else downloading, surfing etc. while the p2p app is running)
 
If you're in a contract then you can upgrade but not downgrade. If you're not in a contract, you can up/downgrade as you wish, it may just take a while to get through the process. If you want out of the contract, you have to settle the outstanding balance on the modem.

p2p is supposed to be throttled to 64kbps on all but the G9 package, both before and after the cap is reached. So I imagine you can still get 64kbps on p2p after the cap.

But I'll let you know for sure in a day or so. Now on my last fast Gb.

Actually, it is. To differentiate, you should use KB (capitals) for kilobytes, kb (small) for kilobits. But, of course, myles probably did mean KB/s in his post.

My p2p app died the moment I hit my cap. So I guess p2p does not work on the throttled service.:(
 
My DC++ refuses to work over 2-3KB/s before I have reached my cap, once I actually reach my cap I get 7-12KB.

So whats up with that? Is that shaping so bad when your uncapped that it goes slower than when you are capped? Im geussing when you are capped they drop shaping because shaping is supposed to throttle everything to 64kb, but once capped evertything already goes at 64kb.

This only effects DC++ though. But I dont use any other P2P's much, besides one which isnt shaped by Iburst anyway.
