Anyone using Xbox Live on Neotel

im on adsl atm. Tired of paying 1300k a month on a capped account. Anyone using neotel on xbox live? Whats the latency like with online gaming?

For the amount you're paying, you might as well get OpenWebs Uncapped 4mb line at night, 384kbps during the day, or Axxess line(Cheaper).

Neotel isn't worth gaming at all.

Agreed. Gaming is useless on neotel. Need to dl 200gigs of data, and neotel's your guy. Anything else, just get ADSL or iBurst (need 100% signal to game though :/).

Haven't tried Xbox Live yet, but playing some MMOs [Age of Conan ] on PC with Neoflex . Latency is typical 3G 400ms-700ms. I wouldn't give up an ADSL line for it, but if you were on some sort of 3G anyway [MTN/Voda] it might be worth checking out. My Neoflex is alot more stable than my MTN 3G generally.

I don't have a gold account. So I can't comment on the online gaming, but I can tell you that downloads are very quick and streaming of HD content has no lag.

The only game I have really tried online is Trackmania on my pc which runs perfect.

I have Neoflex (which has a lower latency than Prime) and ive used it online with my PS3. Fast FPS games suck - u jus get anhialated by ppl on ADSL lines - especially the foreign peeps.

Unless there is a way to filter it so u only playing local peeps, neotel sucks for online gaming.

Seriously ? I'm on NeoFlex, average latency 140 - 200ms.
My 4mbit DSL rocked, used to host almost all games.

Can you play FPS titles ? I'm holding back on buying Gold again, I'd check it out if it was possible to actually play.

I play cod4 no problem with neotel the only problem ones is cs on the sgs server as they have latency caps so if your ping keeps going over 120 they kick you but on the vodacom gaming servers you can play just fine.
world of warcraft I could never play with my adsl .
some backround with my adsl before i canceled it.
when ever it rained I used to lose sync with the exchange so it was down maby 50 times an hour.
it used to resynce between 512 and 640 and some times 384. so it used to be down more than up.
telkom told me I live to far from the exchange ( I live in Randburg)
that is the only reason I went with neotel
sure I have had **** with neotel.
but they are sorting out there teething problems.
so now for the facts
world of warcraft on the eu server and relam Aerie peak ping is between 450 and 600
Guild wars eu server ping of 520
cs on sgs server ping of 110 to 180
cs on vodacom server 130 to 155
Age of conan eu server ping of 520 to 680
on xbox live I can do a video call no problem , I can streem movies no problem
I can play farcry online with some lag but Im connection to the Australia server as I have friends that live there.

the fact of the matter is if you play fps go with copper (adsl)
if you play mmorpg play with (either dosnt matter )
if you like me who hates telkom then go accross caus I have accepted the wirless downfall with natural lag but as long as I dont ever have to speak or pay telkom again Im a happy man.

Yeah I can't get DSL at my new place, cable theft.

My ping is like 180 this morning. I use to play a lot of RB6 1 & 2, Forza, GRAW2, COD4 etc.

I'd get Gold again to play COD6. I've had an open DSL installation for about 5 months now.
