Guys

I noticed that there is a file called apache.exe running on my pc. Shutting it via end process does not cause any other programs to stall.

What is this?

How do I get rid of it?

thanks so much.....

check in your services if there is an Apache Web Service being started at startup.

my goodness ... i dont want to run a server ... could this be why my 150mb bundle was chomped in just 2 days?

:(

the only thing i did lately was mess around with google-talk and messenger ... could not get the sign-up right so i left them.

Do you think this could be the problem?

I dont normally go to risky sites .... I hope my 150mb bundle that i bought today does not go as well ..... :(

It is started as a Windows service.
Settings-Control Panel-Administrative Tools-Services ... it should be in there.

You can remove it easily via the Add/Remove Programs tool in your control panel.

Apache web server does not use your interent bandwith. It is a local only web server, except if setup to be accessed from externally. Theoretically it should not be using any bandwith. Try running a anti-spyware /adware software too.

Apache HTTPd is a full-fledged internet web server.

I guess you can have a setup that allows for only lan machines to access the server, but it is not the default setup

nod

You've touched on some pertinent points ... my motherboard does have a built in Nvidia firewall......

i will try this out when i get home.

Indeed. I can access mine through the start menu:
Start --> All Programs --> NVIDIA Corporation --> Network Access Manager --> Web-based Interface

If you want to disable it, look for a "ForceWare Web Interface" service.
