Hi Guys

Im a regular reader, but now find the need to ask a few quesitons.

I am a BIS user, with a BOLD 9000 and I wanted to know how to use the APN settings for specific applications only.

By default I would like to use BIS for my normal use, but certain applications require an APN.

So how do u set specific apps to use APN settings only?

Hope you understand what I am trying to say.

Hi myjdjames,

All my apps are set to BIS where possible, but I have "blackberry.net" as my apn. I have used this for a while and have not incurred any additional charges on my account.

Also, be sure to use the internet browser and not Vodafone Live (if on Vodacom).

Hope this answers your question. :)

RE: APN

Hi

Thanks for the prompt response.

I have also set my APN as blackberry.net, but it does not sort my problem.
If i set the APN to internet, then the application works fine.

Listed below is the result of each APN setting that I use for this application:

1. BLANK APN - I get a APN not specified error
2. BLACKBERRY.NET - I get a BAD DNS error
3. INTERNET - App works fine.

That is why I want to know if it is possible to set certain applications to use a specific APN. ie. Use apn: blackberry.net by default; or use apn: internet for that specific application.

Thanks in Advance.

If you cannot set the apn in the application itself, then it will use the default apn.

What application(s) are you trying to set up?

RE: APN

You cant set the APN in the application.
its the Hollywoodbets.net application.
Guess I wil have to just live without it/keep changing APN settings.
