Apple and Google settle smartphone patent dispute

Apple and Google’s Motorola Mobility unit have agreed to settle all patent litigation between them over smartphones

To me there was some comfort in the apparent hostility between Google and Apple. We don't want these two to be too big friends. Competition is good. Ideally not in court, but at least the odd loose accusation of industrial espionage, or similar.

AFAIK Nokia isn't in the phone business any more. Microsoft bought the phone part of Nokia - for whatever obscure reason.

ties to a fuller answer (just been a bit swamped) Nokia has sold its business but not the patents and IP and derive royalties from patents - a nice wallop coming in from Apple

Samsung already admitted that they are scaling down on top end smart phones as they cannot really afford it!
