Apple conspired with e-book publishers: US

About time Apple had the book thrown at them over this.

Someone messed up the e-book market. The whole idea of getting an electronic version of a book cheaper because we save paper is gone with the wind. The whole "green" priority is also gone with it. Too many Kindle books are now more expensive than the printed version. A $9.99 book costs $15 now when the printed version goes for $13. Yes, I still save on shipping but that is not the issue here. Amazon started a very good business model ... and then things went pear shaped one day and the Kindle prices soared. Something disruptive did happen, that is for sure, and I hope it becomes clear what caused it ... and most importantly that the situation is rectified.

As it stands I apparently don't own my Kindle books. I rent them. The printed version is however mine to keep and even resell or give away. I do not want to pay the same or more for a rented copy that I never own. PUNT.
