Series 8 AW. I think I love this one, would be a good upgrade from my old series 3.

What are your impressions in this new watch ?

Believe it or not, my 6 year old 1st gen AW can still give me 27 hours of battery life.

Even though it is still soldiering on, I want to upgrade so much…being stuck on watchOS 4 is not so nice.

I’m hoping to see a good deal on the Watch SE before the new SE hits us.

It'll be interesting to see who buys this Ultra watch.

I can't imagine Bear Grylls with one (and a power bank in his other pocket)

Among the shrinking group of smartwatch-wearing customers that have eluded Apple, one of them is me. I can’t commit to an Apple Watch, especially with its 18-hour battery life. When you have hobbies like multiday backcountry camping, snowboarding, and climbing, it makes no sense to wear a relatively fragile device that’s going to die in less than a day—especially when there are more-rugged, longer-lasting options.

Garmin’s tough, expensive watches dominate the premium watch category, which includes devices costing $500 or more.

If he's so extreme then he shouldn't be using a fitness tracker or smartwatch at all.

I assume you’re quoting an article since the text is in italics, but nonetheless…at least there is now the low power mode with series 8 and the new Ultra has even more juice…

And let’s face it, a lot of people are gonna get the Ultra just for the longer battery life, and because it’s different…people who will not go near an ocean or mountain or hiking trail.

Baffles me as well why the Apple Watch still cannot compete with the likes of Huawei, Samsung, Garmin etc when it comes to battery life…but it is what it is.

Doesn’t help complaining about it year in and year out…

I'm saying that the hope that this watch (Ultra) is going to compete with - and steal market share - from the likes Garmin Fenix, probably won't happen. As you say it'll be guys in that won't go near a mountain or hiking trail, but I don't see it as a completely new market segment

Received a mail from iStore saying AW 8 and new SE should be available "soon", available starting 23 Sep. No word on the AW Ultra.
