Apple ID v App Store ID

Will someone please assist me with the subject as Ive never rally understood the difference. After many weeks of delaying I've just updated to iOS 9.3.2 and need to get the password correct. I created ca new Apple ID password but this is not accepted by iTunes or App store. Is there anyway of resetting my App store password?

There is only one Apple ID.

You can reset your password easily, provided your account recovery information is correct.
