Apple ID

One thing though... my apple remote control has the double tap going on down and right. Apparently it's ****ed and needs replacement.

I'll get there - so far the Apple TV 4K has cost me 4-5 hours of very precious sleep time. Working 16-18 hours Monday to Sunday does not leave on with much time for one self.

BTW: Recommendation for:

Browser

IPTV App

No Afriforum TV app :(
UHF is great

You can "fix" this by enabling the tap to navigate feature in accessibility settings. Then you only need to touch the directional buttons on the remote instead of clicking them.

Settings > Accessibility > Turn "Tap to Navigate" on.

I'll tap that - thanks works better.

Btw one can use DNS over TSL with apple tv without having using the router method. I'll have to and see if my notes are on my main box when I'm done working but in short:

  • Generate mobile conf for this
  • Save that to dropbox or whatever share you can use that can directly download from url
  • Shorten url if you don't want to type longurl
  • Then, in apple tv, make it show Add Profile
  • Type in url and test
How I have it nowadays for DNS over TSL.

Thing is, the Apple TV 4K Streaming box, is not the only device, that requires access to custom DNS, a Fire TV 4K MAX stick and various other Android devices, making it simpler, to do it all on the router, instead of on each device individually .

That's the way I see it. I just set up OpenDNS or Cloudfare on the machines I don't want going through the SmartDNS.

Generate mobile conf for this
How? by using Apple Configurator?

I'm not that fancy - just the one aptv for me

I would not know. I don't have mac, ipad or iphones.

I used
  • Made the conf
  • Filled in the correct values (notepad++, didn't trust the tool)
  • Uploaded it to dropbox - changed last bit to dl=1
  • On Apple TV: Settings → General → Privacy → hover on "Share Apple TV Analytics" → press PlayAdd Profile
  • Type in (or paste via iPhone keyboard) the Dropbox URL
  • Install the profile
Reason: Run aptv on its own endpoint and profile for its DNS over TLS.

Thanks - I'll give it a shot. I'd like one of our AppleTVs to have a different DNS than the others.
