Apple iPad confirmed

Pretty excited about this. Always wanted a tablet PC and almost jumped for the kindle. Glad I waited :)
Personally the Specs aint anything that bothers me. Higher specs would have been nice, but will most likely only use this as an e reader/ home multimedia device. No real interest in using it for work.

I am also a little underwhelmed.

A great internet device. Will I watch movies on it? Probably not. I have a 50" plasma. Will I listen to music on it. Probably not.

Will I take it as a internet device on holiday? Sure thing!!

It should have had a camera
It should have had an SD Slot
Does it have a file manager?
Can it play DivX or mvk? If not...it's useless to me as a video viewer as most of my vids are DivX and I cant be bothered to recode things.

Looks more than useful!

Whats the difference between this and a iPhone or iPod Touch except screen size? No this is crap man! Its a extremely limited(functionality wise because its running a phone OS) netbook without a keyboard. :wtf: apple should put the mac OS on it or a modified version! My statement is an assumption i didn't go research this cash-cow that old Joppie pulled from his bumm. The iPhone was a whole new start to smart phones & touch phones and it was and is legend. Tis on the other hand is half baked i mean 1Ghz, come on phones have that now.
Lets not even talk about hardware limitations, ever heard of a usb port anyone at apple no? SD card slot no? headphone jack? mic jack? ethernet port? no? webcam? ***kol? no? pha-lease Jobs!
For what it is it should seriously be cheaper. SSD netbooks are cheaper

I paid more for my netbook, so i think the answer is clear that it is pretty amazing for the price.

The one month standby will make it more than useful in the lounge and bed.

Don't mean to troll, but some of the slashdot comments are funny:

"It's more than just an iPod touch that won't fit in your pocket...it's also an underpowered netbook with no keyboard. It's the worst of both worlds!"
and
"Watching the announcement live I was struck with just how absorbent the crowd was regarding iPad presentation. It's like this product has wings. I wonder how well the iPad will handle those heavy work flow days."

But seriously, will apple once again tell me what I'm allowed to run on hardware that I own?

The only shocker is core is going to charge R8000+ for the thing, so it will never be worth it.

Looks very cool. Pitty bout the name though, sounds like a high tech sanitary pad  I really wish Apple will drop the "i" in front of their products.

They did . . . just like they did with the iPhone.

No microphone/headphone jack? Did you read the specs? SD card reader via the USB port.
Also since it's based on the iphone os, no multitasking or flash
The iPhone is more than capable of multitasking.

I dont doubt that. :o

Multitasking will probably be in the next iphone update, so i'm sure this thing will have multitasking.

O yes you're right but not one meant for a cellphone a modified version meant for something with more functionality you know what i mean.

Assisted means it uses cellphone towers to lock on much faster. Same as iPhone.

Are people surprised by this?

Yeah, i thought as much; I'm still trying to find what they left our for the 2nd Gen device.
