Apple iPhone 17 thread

I called them yesterday cause it has also been over a month since I have heard anything. Apparently stock is arriving today and then more on the 7th November. This has been the weirdest iPhone launch I have ever had and I have been using iPhones since the 3GS, never had to wait this long
Hopefully more cellular providers will receive stock first two weeks of November , it’s crazy out here.

If they'll allow it and it won't upset the apple cart too much (pun intended), then I'll even change my colour if it means I can get it a bit quicker.
I asked for a black 17, 256 GB, but I don't really care about the colour because I anyway cover my phone, I'll be fine with the blue as well.

If it was the Pro, I won't go as far as saying I'll take the orange though.

Give them a call and ask. Know there was stock of the 17 green and white when I was in Sandton earlier today.

No one wants the orange lol. Silver or blue at worst.

Apple Reacts to iPhone Air Failing

Lol, always enjoy Sam Tuckers diggs at the various manufacturers.

I really do think Apple needs to go back to the drawing board on the iPhone Air.
In my mind the iPhone Air was supposed to be a nice go-between the base and Pro iPhones.

Firstly, in terms of Camera the Air should have had 2 Cameras: same main sensor and then the 2nd being the Ultra Wide, along with this they should have kept LiDAR there, that way the customer doesn’t think the Air is a 16E.

Secondly, the battery should have been at least 4000mAh, the phone didn’t need to be so incredibly thin, would have still been considered pretty thin if it was 6-6.5mm.

I don’t think the speaker situation is such a big deal, that to me is one of the areas that was rightfully compromised if they are trying to make it thin without sacrificing important things like battery life and camera versatility, most people use headphones anyway, as long as the speaker is loud enough for phone ringing and alarms/alerts.

They went way too far with making it so thin and compromising so much.

Agree - camera and battery - too much compromised - especially the camera - it’s the #1 thing that non tech phone users look at when the Pro is out reach price wise.

Also, given the compromises, it should have been the same price as the standard iPhone - the price premium is not justified.

The battery life on iOS 26.1 RC on 17 Pro Max is pretty darn good, I am at 53%, took then off charge at 9:38am it is now 20:44, over 5.5h SOT with battery at over 50% is amazing. This thing can easily hit well over 10h SOT but I simply don’t have the time or energy to get it there, I am going to bed soon lol.

I just called Vodacom to ask about progress and stock for my 17 256 GB ordered on 24 October.
They said all they can tell me is they are receiving stock again on 7 Nov and after that on 14 Nov, if my order is covered by the stock then I'll get a SMS from the courier. I didn't even bother to go in to stock of different colours and the possibility of changing my colour, the lady didn't sound very enthusiastic to help, so going there would probably be a total waste of time

Goodluck. I ordered mine on the 3rd October and nothing...

They really do lack any enthusiasm to help.
It feels like one needs to have a contact at a Vodashop or something.

For anyone in the Telkom waitlist, they will start rolling out from the 18th of November.

I've been waiting since September 25th from Telkom to give me my 17 in green – thinking of cutting my losses and just getting a 16 pro

How is the iStore stock situation, anyone waiting for stock from them? I'm starting to regret not upgrading via iStore, though Vodacom made it kind of impossible for me due to their system glitch.

As far as I know, a couple of years ago, don't know if it's still the same today, Vodacom's iPhone stock didn't come via iStore / Core, they imported their own stock separate from iStore.

Download the iStore app. You can see the exact stock at specific stores for the model you want. You can only see iStore stock via the app.
