Apple iPhone 17 thread

Took my 17 PM off charge at 8:05 this morning at 100%.
It is now 21:44, almost time for bed and we are at:
- 36% battery
- 7h4m SOT
Battery life is ridiculously good on this beast, very happy, doubt I will even see 30% tonight as I am getting ready for bed now.

Take note I have AOD On, Background App Refresh also on with the apps I want (WhatsApp, Outlook, TrueCaller, Wipr) set to refresh.

Is the camera and zooming functions really that good? There seem to be some really cool new features

Going by all the posts it seams like there is limited stock so it will be a waiting game either way, but would you say their is any advantage upgrading to the 17 with Vodacom rather than with iStore, do the one offer any additional perks over the other? I intend trying the online thing, since my very first iPhone which was the 6, I've always upgraded my Vodacom contract at the iStore. I think the last contract upgrade I did at a Vodacom store was upgrading to a Nokia.
So this is the first time I’ve ever had issues with the iStore for an upgrade but Vodacom was a cake walk compared to the iStore so your experience could be different.

Currently using a IPhone 13 which I had on contract with MTN for 24 months. The contract is now ending and I am looking at the IPhone 17 as replacement. Will then pass my IPhone 13 to a family member who needs a cellphone. What is currently good contract deals on the IPhone 17? Unfortunately buying cash is not a option.

Check on istore as it consolidates the deals.

Why are you upgrading? Save money unless your 13 is dying

Why can't he upgrade? The upgrade from a 13 to a 17 is massive. The base 17 now has all the pro features of the previous phones.
1. If the phone is still working why upgrade to another one if there isn't a "need". A want is a different story.
2. Phones are expensive, I'm sure he can use the R799 or so for other things as well looking at how the economy is going.

Old phone is going to a family member.

R799 isn't even 2 cases of beer. So new phone vs filtering beer through the liver?

Is there any way of buying the eSim only version of the iPhone17 in SA. I prefer thghis version as its more secure and has a bigger battery

Look at the performance difference from the A15 in the 13 to the A19 in the 17. The 17 is just in a different league, even compared to the 16 from last year. The biggest performance increase year-on-year ever. It's a massive upgrade.
