Apple iPhone 17 thread

the IPhone 17 in South Africa do they come with sim card trays or are they only esims?

I'm going to the US next month and am considering buying a 17.

Thing is, if I trade in my 15 Pro for maximum return, that leaves me with an eSim phone. I've got a physical sim just now, but do you think it is possible to have a QR code of something with me so I can register the eSim to my Vodacom number while over there?

Maybe a stupid question, maybe you need to connect to Vodacom network here. But just wondering a I've never set up an eSim before.

Should work. It's just like Alosim etc. where you can add the QR code before you arrive at your holiday destination I take.

Yeah, fair point. I use Airalo quite often and load the eSim up in advance. Thanks, I'll go to see Vodacom at the weekend.

You’ll need to request the eSIM a day before and just don’t scan it on your 15 Pro. Only scan it on the 17. Transfers don’t work properly if at all
 
Been a bit busy the last 2 weeks, flying around the country so rather delayed upgrading in case the phone should get delivered and I'm sitting somewhere else.

I just tried to upgrade and got this error, first on the Vodacom site and then on iStore as well, no jokes.

WTF Vodacom???

I called customer care, they don't understand why I get the error because on their side everything shows as being just fine, so I did the upgrade over the phone, even though I'm not very fond of doing these things over the phone because they always seam to make typos in delivery addresses etc.

Ah well, iPhone 17 256 GB on the way, they say 3 to 21 days.

Congratulations! 🥳

As for your question, let’s put it this way…my 17 Pro Max doesn’t even know what 26.0.1 is…unboxed it and went straight to 26.1 Public Beta, currently on PB4 and very happy. I keep forgetting that I am on a Beta, it runs beautifully.
