My SGT10.1 also uses the Tegra 2 and it plays those videos without any problems. Try VPlayer or MX PLayer (I assume you have already). I find VPlayer to get things right that other players won't.

Dice Player works but not flawlessly....it jerks sometimes. The latest MX Player update also seems to work ... it's just not totally smooth. Will try Vplayer tonight

It's also simple things, try bluetooth a song from a bb to your new iPhone and then make it your ring tone, seriously, good luck with that.

Try take your new 64GB iPhone to a friends house who doesn't have iTunes to copy stuff on to it.

Apple has made these simple things near impossible.

If your video content does not need to be on the actual tablet, you can use EMIT to just stream all videos to the tablet from the PC... it does the on-the-fly thing. Works well and even HD mkv files play smoothly on my poor grunt of an underpowered 7" Samsung tablet.

Not a solution, but another approach.

If my friend has a song I like to make a ring tone with I will just copy it to my external or have it emailed it to me. Same with the the no iTunes friend, copy the content and load it later at my leisure.

Instead of that, I would actually thank Android for competing. I do not think Apple would have ever done this is it was not something people used as an Anti iPhone debate point. In fact all of the software features since the 1ST iPhone was added because users where complaining about it and compairing it to other devices.

Not to seem churlish but I'd tell my friend to download iTunes. It's what, 100mb? I can even bring it over on a flash.

Since I got my tablet s I've been doing nothing but finding workarounds for stuff that I take for granted on the iPad. Properly sized backgrounds are scarce as hen's teeth. There isn't one smooth and all-inclusive ereader application. Replacements for my top apps are hard to find. Multitasking backgrounding of certain apps slow the system right down. I just figure out ways around it. I know it's all customisable and stuff but that customisation is often quite time-consuming when you basically just want to spend your time in the apps.

You just learn to live with this stuff because it's what you prefer. In the same way iOS users learn to live with its peculiarities and omissions because the things that it does do, it does brilliantly.

I suppose if you have cloud storage you can just move the info there and download it from your device.

The lack of convenient and direct access to the full iTunes and Apps Store and the ongoing dependency on iTunes (unless you can afford the high data costs of cloud computing) will keep me away from Apple until these two matters are addressed (and made legal).

I do not want to depend on iTunes and I do want full access to my file system on my device to move stuff in any direction and to any location anywhere (not at a PC/laptop wit iTunes).

Apple can have the best specs and the most beautiful devices on earth ... the above issues are show stoppers for me. I've been there. I always had to work my way around the imposed limitations. With Android I have full access/freedom. This matter most to me and other Android users. For me it always comes back to this.

Apple offers iCloud as their solution to the iTunes problem. Problem for us is that we can't afford to use it away from our Wi-Fi routers.

I wish Apple would open their system up some more - as Woz himself have been asking for years - but it seems that will never happen. Pity.

That seems to be a totally legit reason to not get the iPhone5. USB storage mode on Android is pretty darn sweet. I've just learned to not mind. But like e.g. my colleague here has some content I want I can just get their drive plug it in and copy over to my tablet, whereas..... I can't really do that on my iPad without hassle.

When you work in a corporate environment where laptops/PC's are locked-down ... ie. needs admin password to install anything ... and machines are only allowed to have approved software on them (of which iTunes is not one) you are screwed with an iPad and iPhone. This is the case for many - incl in my organisation. With Android there is no such problem. My Android devices happily co-exists with such an environment. My Android devices are seen as external storage devices and I can move all my files/content in both directions. iPad/iPhone users are constantly trying to bribe our system admins to load iTunes on their machines.

I'll give it a go if you don't mind... Here we are on page 33 of this thread with the last couple of pages being devoted to the "fraud" we are committing by creating US Store accounts and spending our money in that store while CoolBug is advocating Blutoothing songs from one device to another and copying your mates music... I believe that sir, is called piracy and if you're holding us to a standard, let's make sure the playing field is level. Having said that 'tho, sharing is caring and the ubiquitous "there's an app for that" applies in most cases here...

iPads/iPhones are highly corporate-friendly though. In my organisation it's becoming a first point of development - any standard should be iOS compatible.

Yes, there are companies that do allow iTunes on machines and try to work Apple products into their architecture. In my case we are not one of those, and with MS coming to the phone/tablet party with Windows 8 I can't see iTunes ever going onto any machine. We are an MS partner company so Windows rules.

Thinking that itunes is crap is not a rabid android fanboy trait. If you look around you will find plenty of people who share the same viewpoint. Why must I install Apple software just to get a song from my friend then install more software to convert the song into a globally accepted standard?

Ok firstly as greg0205 points out there's this huge double standard of ethicality when it comes to pirating. Registering US account = unacceptable legal bypassing, but being unable to copy 64gb of music = inconvenient. Let's try to choose a standard and stick with it hey.

I agree, and I have been fighting it (remember, I am also the owner of an iPhone 4 and two iPads) ... but to no avail. The policy stand. Many have tried to get it changed. Security is always the reason given ... and that iTunes is about music and videos that do not belong on corporate machines anyway.
