Apple fans are gonna wanna hang me for this but here goes. I got an Apple Ipod Touch 16GB for my bday last week(gf bought it ;) )

But i'm so terribly disappointed with the device :confused: What is all the hype about? Its a good music player nothing that something far cheaper couldnt master.. Other than that its just a piece of Jewellery! Steve Jobs came out tellin everyone that this piece of crap is the future?!?

This thing has no bluetooth, no mic, no access to the file system. Nothing!
You can watch mp4, pictures & music thats it :eek: Old cellphones can do that!
3rd party applications? who knows

I also have a HTC tytnI wifi/hsdpa/bluetooth u can do everything on it, can u understand how useless this Ipod Touch feels to me?
If anyone out there knows how to make this thing more useful ie email, IM maybe even VOIP pls point me in the right direction. I dont want those web link applications i want proper applications on this bluddy expensive brick!

OK.... but why do you include the iPhone in your thread title?

The iPhone has:
-Bluetooth (used for handsfree)
-Microphone (which you can use for voice recording via thrid party apps)
-Access to the filesystem using third party apps or SSH
-Everything

It's called Jailbreak...

Or just sell it and get an iPhone...
 
What were you expecting it to do? Make you coffee after fellating you? It is a music/video player which as an added bonus has wifi, a good portable web browser, a great user interface and the ability to load other applications on to it (soon).

Was a gift. Iphone is not available in SA. Atleast not the places my GF shops :(
Sorry iphone guys didnt know the iphone wasnt equally useless
 
you cant compare a tytn and an iphone. They very different pieces of kit.

Functionality wise, the tytn is much better then the iphone. But the people who buy iphones, buy them for the basic features, i.e. playing music and videos and phoning people and occationally surfing the web. Also so they look cool with their cool new apple toy!

You sure got that right! I'm just walking around with this thing showing it to everyone scrolling the menus around. Although secretly i'm :sick: just wanna slap some codecs on the thing and play random clips from my pc without converting to mp4 :(

Okay i've decided i'm gonna jailbreak this thing! Any tips cuz i'm gonna do a chop-job

iPhone is available in SA ;) Quite a few places are selling them by now.

If you download ZiPhone 2.5 from www.iclarified.com, you can Jailbreak your iPod Touch and you will be able to load 3rd party applications on it. Note, you will obviously need Wifi enabled to use the Installer.app.

Dude, i honestly don't think it's that much of a 'useless' device.

-Convert a couple of your DVD's to .mp4
-Load up some mp3's
-Use it as an external HD
-Link it up to your car radio system to use it as an mp3 player.
-Once you have loaded Jailbreak, there are 100s of awesome apps to try out.

Since it's a gift, i don't think your GF will be too happy with you selling it, so try get the best use out of it ;)
 
ya dude, do some research before you post a thread slamming a product.
sure, the touch isnt as great as the iphone, but its still much better than any other music player you'd find on the market. the sound quality isnt half bad, the user interface is pretty cool and with a bit of jailbreaking here and some 3rd party apps there, you have yourself a pretty kickass piece of "jewellery".
download ziphone and jailbreak it, get "Installer" and download some apps! you wont regret it bud ;)
 
Type in something called Safari Apps, i think. Its a web page that has tonnes of apps for it, obviously you need to add the sources to installer.app but its a very good site to find wich apps you want.
