What work can you actually do on it that takes advantage of all of Apple's brilliant SOC engineering?

Editing video maybe? But any serious person would do that on a desktop anyway.

If Apple were clever, they would create a sandboxed place in the OS where a user can install an ARM version of Ubuntu or other Linux distro. They have some very tasty hardware on that device that a lot of people could take advantage of.

Many people have converted to doing video and image editing on the iPad Pro over the MacBook for the pencil support.

You can do a whole lot of work on the thing, hence my question how come you think it’s only a Facebook machine.

The world over people are switching to iPads full time.
